This is the death music which plays when your character dies in Lost Existence. Although I like writing these 'sappy strings' pieces, I generally rush through them due to the simple chord nature- this piece being no exception taking maybe 30 minutes to write. To write these, I establish a consistent bass line then improvise lines over the top and tweak if necessary until harmonies are pleasant but just enough 'colorful' to still be interesting.
My general inspiration for this track was the 'Brasil Peace' music from Civ V, which makes excellent use of string writing and tasty chord tensions, as well as to some minor extent Barber's Adagio. I won't pretend this is nearly as good as either of those, but it serves its purpose well enough I think.
I used EW Hollywood Strings for this with a touch of QL Spaces.
Similar prior works: Sweet Memories (done with VSCO 2 Pro instead of EW Hollywood), Veil of Dreams (" ", w/ harp), Sunrise over Idyll (w/ orchestra & recorder), Opening Theme 6 (EWQL SO).
