The project 8 years in the making, The Black Illusion Society, is finally coming together! Big Al is BACK with FUNK, recording some of the best music EVER submitted from this account.

You can almost HEAR the hatred pounding in through your speakers!

This is only the first taste of things to come... sadly the pure hatred of this track fried my recorder, so it'll be a couple months until I submit again.

"Pretty good."

date: February 2, 2009

It was pretty good, you could hear everything pretty well, the only thing i would suggest is play with a the EQ on the guitar track a little and make it a little bassier. With just the drums and guitar is sounds kind of weak. Maybe turn the volume on the bass drum mic down just a tad, it seems to be over powering the cymbals a little, At least for my taste.

And like everyone else said the breakdown, but I'm sure you're sick of hearing shit about that.

"it was good."

date: December 5, 2008

the start got my attention but when the breakdown hit i slowly started losing interest. when 2:19 hit you got me listening again and at 2:51 you started rocking again.
i hope you get that recorder fixed because i want more.

"Good, except some parts,"

date: November 19, 2008

1:35-2:10 sounded kind of off. I know it was the breakdown, but the drumbeat was going too fast in comparison. The drum was playing a almost the speed of the intro, but it was alone in doing so. If anything, I would say the drum goes slowly during the breakdown and the other instruments can go faster.

BTW: 2:19-2:50 is sweet shit.

Author's Response:

Technically I could have just ground through the whole thing... the breakdown was a bit of concession towards adding a little variety.

To be honest, there shouldn't have been a tempo change from the intro to the breakdown. Al's not used to playing this aggressively fast; he's used to more instrumental friendly beats.

"Needs some improvement"

date: November 19, 2008

It's good throughout the first half of the song, but past about 1:32 it seems to lose rhythm. At 2:51 you got it back rockin' again. The middle of it wasn't all that appealing to me, but it has good moments.

Too bad about your recorder though. :(

Author's Response:

Haha!

Sounds like you just hated the breakdown; the time span you mention is EXACTLY the length of breakdown!
