Well, like a few of you know, I'm working on a solo album of my own between all of my other music work. I decided I would release one of the tracks here on Newground for everyone to check out.

The album will be called: Shades of Melody: Fantasy Reborn

the album will basically be an RPG OST to an uncreated RPG. Just something I decided might be nice to work on. The track title is "The Sleep Cursed Town".

I hope you all enjoy it!

"Hmm.."

Reading what others have said, I agree that it does have a similar sound to older games. Of which I happen to love (Old-skool foreva!), although contrary to others opinions' I believe it to be more along the lines of DQ/DW myself. Particularly Dragon Warrior 3, the one Elven town far north of the second castle. Everyone there is in a permanent sleep and this just instantly brings that memory back to me. This is one of the half dozen or so tracks you've created that I could really listen to over and over without it bothering me a bit. Totals: 5/5 - 10/10

Very nice, thanks!

I can definitely see this in any given DQ Game. I'm happy you enjoy the tunes. Thanks for the review. Always appreciated.

"Very very nice peice"

I really love this piece. It carries the distinctive flavor of final fantasy games.

How original is this? Did you borrow melodies, basic music constructs and stuff or did you just construct stuff in a very similar style with a similar flavor of instruments? I'm dying to know how you were able to emulate the style so well ;P

Author's Response:

My inspiration for music generally starts with an instrument. Once I was able to construct a sound that struck me as familiar to an SNES key, I ran with it. This is as original as it gets. Sometimes things just fall into place and this particular track was one instance where the deeper I ran with it, the better it sounded.

In truth, I wish all my tracks fell into place as well as this one did.

"Used as Title Track in 3D Animated Short!"

date: December 26, 2008

Heyyo, I just wanted to let you know that your track was sick. I went over hundreds of tracks for selection into my animated short (for school) and this was one of the best.

Check out the video with your music here: http://vimeo.com/2625337

Thanks!

"perfect execution..."

of your idea. The main melody reminds me of a winter like sleepiness, and the howling wind in the background sometimes makes me think or a ghost town. The slightly dark elements that enter the melody sometimes make me think of a subtle curse, like some veiws of eternal life that picture it as seeming good at first but later when whoever's got it is done with life but still has to live on. When those elements come into play i think of the veiw of eternal life of somebody who's edjucated enough to know the bad things but tempted enough so he may or may not care. Another thing is that since4 the melody has an etherealness, albeit in a fairytale-esque manner, the idea of magic comes more readily into mind.
