Me, a very cheap mic, and an acoustic guitar.

I took the original idea from a song I had created for my band and ran with it. My band also has an account here on NG so if you hear it from them dont worry, I did not in anyway steal it from them and they did not in anyway steal it from me as I am in the band and I created the song.
This song is meant to be very soft and full of emotion. I had to plug in my acoustic guitar to an amp just so the mic could pick it up. Needless to say you might need to turn the volume up a little just to hear it. You may notice me messing up once or twice, but that is because some of this is actually improvisation and I came up with it as I played. All scratches or other sounds is my hand moving as I play because again, I am actually playing it.
Also I should probably tell you I know little to nothing about how to record. My current recording situation is a computer mic that probably wasnt meant for music plugged into a laptop. I also am using windows movie maker and reccording it as a narration. I have no idea as to what materials I should purchase to make myself sound better or how to go about recording so any advice would be very much appreciated. I will also try to respond to any reviews I may get.

Though I hate to praise you...

Well Corey I'd say youve outdone yourself if not for the solos you have created during practice. Speaking of which why don't you record some of them as well. From your band member. You can probably guess which one. Tong Attack!

MusicMyOxygen responds:

Ok.. As I said before though this account will likely be a host to my classical ventures, rather than others. Thank you for your opinion.

MusicMyOxygen responds:

Yeah that is weird. I'm glad you like my song and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I think...

it need some more reverb, but seeing as how your recording situation is almost like mine with the exeption that I don't have a mic, i use a program to write piano songs on my guitar, I would say that this a a really good attempt, this song needs a little more, mabey a harmony, chorus, and solo. I can really see this song going somewhere. when i get myself those programs that i need I'll hit you up and tell you my opinions on which to get. you got yourself a fan!

Thanks for the review. I'd really appreciate your opinions on what to get or any advice really.
I know what your saying about adding more to it. I would have and probably should have but I dont think I gave myself enough time to add onto it. I think I was just really anxious to finally get something out there. That and I was worried that adding too much onto it would take away from what I wanted this song to be. However, I may add more onto this song in the future because I see now that it may be missing something.
Wow, a fan. I cant tell you how amazing it is to hear that. Thank you.

Cool.

I like it. Quiet and simple. However, I was kind of expecting vocals to come in some time during the song, and I think it would have added a lot. Not to say that guitar isn't an awesome instrument, but I think it's hard for any single instrument (other than piano) to fill up a song with sound and make it seem "full" so to speak. Anyway, great work and an awesome first submission! I look forward to more songs coming from you.

MusicMyOxygen responds:

Thanks. I completely understand what you are saying about the vocals as I usually provide vocals for many of my songs. They add a sort of feature to songs that just make them see much more whole. Lately however I have been letting the music speak for itself, particularly because I have been venturing into the classical genre. You will very likely hear more from me soon, as I plan on buying a keyboard and taking a shot at piano. Again, thank you for your review.

Soothing..

All though you used a computer mic, still has great tone. In fact i'm the lead singer of my band and i do a lot of recording(which i'll probably never put on the internet) and I do the same thing. there's no need to be ashamed of it.
anyways, back to the song; it's very calm and it realy calls to you. As i listen to this i can amagine walking down a dark and lonely street. It really caught my interest.
Well keep chasing your dream, maybe you'll catch it one day. keep up the good work.

Thank you for a wonderful review. I'm not exactly ashamed of using a computer mic, but there are just so many songs on here that sound amazing and I think I would be able to improve my sound if I was able to use another method. Of course I am having trouble finding out how and what to use to record to do so. It's nice to know I'm not the only one using a computer mic though. I am glad you enjoyed my song, and I really appreciate getting this review.
