A while back I had this idea to write a cover of Guile's music from Street Fighter II. After listening to many different takes on how it went I finally found a MIDI track of it that was really close to my criteria (many of them had incorrect harmonies or just sounded too simple). So I borrowed the melody and other parts in the file that I really liked and tweaked them to be my own.
When I started this track it was a purely instumental rock track. I spent a lot of time rewriting it and tweaking the various sounds to my liking until one day I hit a creative wall. After putting hours of work in on it I could't think of what I could do to take the track from good to great and so it sat on my computer's hard drive untouched for about two years. I would occasionally go back to it to see if listening to it again would give me a new source of inspiration, but still nothing.
Finally I opened it again about a week ago and just decided that just about everything in it needed a face lift. I realized that by sticking to purely instrumental/non-electron ic instruments was holding me back, so I ripped it all apart again, deleting and reworking almost every aspect of the track until I finally came to this and realized that it couldn't be improved much more than this.
I hope that you enjoy listening to this track as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
