Little Tripod

Share

I spend days after days just trying to come up with concepts. But finally my urge to draw outweighed my pointless planning, so I went ahead and just started drawing, with no real plan in mind.

This little alien creature is a result of a strange evolutionary pattern that ensued when an ancient jellyfish the size of San Francisco consumed enormous amounts of microbes. Some of those microbes survived and somehow managed to start thriving inside this jellyfish. A collection of spores and moss made up plant life, and the dirt/rock is made up of thousands of years of built-up decomposition.

Like many of the creatures here, it has very poor eyesight because light doesn't shine if the jellyfish is far below the surface. But it has bioluminescence as a tool to hunt. This is one of those rare times when the jellyfish is close enough to the surface to let in a significant amount of light. Nobody know's the real evolutionary benefit of three legs, but it has them..

This is one of my favorite pieces by you yet, and I still adore you putting in the time to describe the functionality of their traits and such.

Tektyx responds:

It's fun to imagine more than just the look of a critter sometimes. ^^

I had not expected the creature to glow, it was a very nice touch.

Tektyx responds:

Sometimes my less conventional critters don't get very much attention. I figured adding a little flare would help give it a boost. :)

Nice color scheme, and a very interesting creature. Keep up the good work!

Tektyx responds:

Thank you so much! ^^
