FAQ

Tips/Tricks

First off, there a lot of glitches. This is a grinding game and not a "twitch action brawler" as the author describes it. Once you change your impression of what the game should be to what it actually is, its much easier. Sometimes the game will not progress due to a glitch. In this case you must restart the game and if it repeats try a different difficulty or a different set of moves.

But if you still want to play the game.... SPAM HELLDRIVE, DOWN+D, AND FLY LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!!!!!

Or rather, build up HellDrive on easy opponents with Down+D and flying attacks, then spam HellDrive combined with either jumping above or Down+D on the tough ones that you cannot get close to since they block, don't have recoil or have insane life. By flying attack I mean while in the air, mash attack and you will fly. Refer to the videos for clarification on the techniques.

I used dual blades for all of my medals, and all methods described below are using them.

Note: HellDrive damage is not applicable to major bosses on missions 2, 4, and 6 but is applicable to end-of-level bosses on 3 and 5.

For a little extra damage, mash down S with Down+D, but be warned, it may backfire occasionally on certain opponents, like Mission 6 boss. IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT FINISH BOSSES OFF AT LEFT CORNER OF MAP.
If you do, a glitch will occur, freezing the game. You must finish them off elsewhere on the map.

Another glitch is that if you select your starting weapon as dual blades when you are in the air, pressing Down+D does not activate the downward air attack. This is solved by switching weapons back and forth.

Gone at level start or knocked down

There's an easy way to escape unscathed. Hold Down, then quickly hit Jump then D. You'll move into the typical Down+D attack and can easily escape any attacks while doing some damage.

Bugged Medals

Beating the game (Victory), max magic medal (Demon Master), and Perfectionist medals look to be glitched so that you can't earn them. Some other medals are bugged, but if you keep on playing they will usually show up (refresh your medal page). Note: "Slaughter Master" is still attainable (beating all levels on Impossible).

Perfectionist could possibly be obtained via three methods (PM me if either of these work or don't for you):

Played Mission 1 on Mortal, save, proceed to Mission 2, refresh the page, select Mission 1 again, proceed through the Nexts, refresh medal page.

Or:
1) Start new game.
2) Choose Mortal.
3) Get an A (using no upgrades or retries) (Unsure?)
4) Save and close the game.
5) Reopen, select mission one on mortal again. (Should say you have A+) (Unsure?)
6) Keep clicking next until you get to the final screen
7) Refresh your user medal page.

Or aim to achieve this medal before Sword Master (you may have to start a new game). Refresh Medal page.

Difference between weapons

Anima - Normal blade, normal speed, cheapest, weak power (unsure) Dual Blade - Fastest speed, average price, normal power (unsure) Dudayera - Long reach chain weapon earned after Mission 4, normal speed, , expensive, normal power (unsure) Dual Uzi - Manual, average speed, can charge, weak (unsure) Shotgun - Glitched, manual, slow, can charge, powerful (unsure) M9 - Automatic, fast, cannot charge, weak (unsure)

Difference between difficulties

Increase in difficulty results in: enemy modifications of higher health, higher damage power, different types, slightly different AI, and more waves; character modifications of slower HellDrive charge and slower style rank increase.

Fastest way to earn blood

Play mission 6 repeatedly on Mortal. It shouldn't take more than 2 minutes and you'll get 1,500 blood for each fight. Do not forget to save after each battle.

A+ Medals

You must do it on Slayer or higher. This correlates to the descriptions in the in-game achievement list. Obtaining the scores required A+ is easier on higher levels as there are more enemies and they can take more hits for larger combos. Hybrid seems to be a very suitable difficulty due to having more enemies.

Requirements for A+

Mission 1 - 300,000, 4 minutes, 30 kills
Mission 2 - 350,000, 3 minutes, 1 kill
Mission 3 - 550,000, 6 minutes, 50 kills
Mission 4 - 650,000, 5 minutes, 1 kill
Mission 5 - 550,000, 6 minutes, 50 kills
Mission 6 - 650,000, 5 minutes, 1 kill
To get A+ for any mission you need at least two A+ ratings and one A rating.

Requirements for A

If you know of the requirement for A for time,PM Wylo.
Mission 1 - 230,000, N/A, 30 kills
Mission 2 - 300,000, N/A, 1 kill
Mission 3 - 500,000, N/A, 44 kills
Mission 4 - 500,000, N/A, 1 kill
Mission 5 - 500,000, N/A, 44 kills
Mission 6 - 500,000, N/A, 1 kill

Tutorial

Follow all the steps of the tutorial. The final phase where it tells you to do the combo actually means to get a A++ Stylish score. Or press Space to skip the tutorial.

Mission 1

Glitched on Slayer

Follow the video. It contains pretty much all the techniques needed for the rest of the missions so if you get this down, you'll find the rest of the game a breeze (excepting the annoying glitches).

Played on Mortal. Normal attack with D to push him to corner. Once you are in the corner, Down+D to make enemy go up quickly followed by Up+D to do a rise attack quickly followed by just D. Once you are in the air you can mash down D to "fly" while hitting the enemy. Next enemy, you can see that you can raise the guy up before hitting him all the way to the corner. When getting knocked down, you can hold Down then quickly tap Jump and then D to get back out without taking any further hits.

For suicide bombers, hit them until they are low on health and by that time you should have enough energy stored to activate Helldrive. Finish the bombers off by jumping above and to the right of them and spamming Helldrive with F. Try to kill the dual bladed guy last or just use HellDrive to finish the level. Youtube Video

Mission 2

For A+ - Courtesy of KrevZabijak Use the Down+D attack and move her to the corner. Launch her and yourself into the air with Up+D. Start flying with D. She will jump up to try to reach you so descend to her jump height while still flying to meet her and whack away at her. When she blocks, mash D faster to ascend and let her drop. Repeat til death. Its similar to mission 6 first method. Key here is to stay at around the peak of her jump letting her drop exactly when you are pulling away from her. Look to the pillar in the background for reference.

Video played on Slayer Mode for A+.
Youtube Video For Untouchable This method is easier to handle than the first one and may work for A+ as well, but you must be fast to beat the time quota.

Down+D to the corner. Continue to Down+D until she moves up and jumps. Stay still when she does her attack. Attack again when she is on the ground with normal D until she blocks then Down+D to make her jump up. Activate HellDrive ASAP to make killing her faster. Repeat til she is close to death. Game may glitch if you kill in the corner, so kill her in the middle of the screen.

Mission 3

May be glitched on Slayer

Press W to go through the doors, a critical thing left out in the tutorial.

Mission 4

(Reports of freezing when played on Hybrid)

This boss seems to have an internal counter. As you melee him, his counter will build up and he will block continuously. After time, his counter will drop and he will stop blocking. Run to side. Shoot, shoot, shoot. Then do a regular D attack through through him. And repeat. The key is to melee slow enough such that your last hit will be blocked, as indicated by the sound effect. This is important to build up your Style meter and will significantly decrease the time taken to complete the round.

Mission 5

For A+, I played on Slayer, see video.

The hard part of mission 5 is getting your slayer points up. Run right, to spawn the enemies. Helldrive until you get the normal enemies. While in Helldrive to earn the most points, try to start from one side of the screen and push the enemies with a normal D attack to the other side of the screen. Tow things are key here: grouping them together for fast points; and killing them as soon as they block or when you feel when they block. As soon as you feel or hear that they block, spam Helldrive to kill them ASAP or they will hit you, knocking your stylish rank down. Repeat with the normal enemies until the door opens. Go to the next area with W. Hit the clock-like looking object in the centre of the map repeatedly. The first spiny enemies are simple as they don't block. Helldrive the dual bladers ASAP. The enemies in this area generally don't block use Down+D and Helldrive to push them back to a corner and finish them off. There is a solo spiny in the 2nd last wave that blocks so HellDrive him.

Mission 6

Refer to picture and video. From starting the level, get the guy to follow you to the left, jump up along the left wall and start hovering with D controlling your height. Once he is in the left corner below you, drop down to hover on him. You want to stay just above his neck. If done properly, he will repeatedly do his ground dash attack but stay in the corner. Do not venture too high or else he will do his wide-swoosh attack, hurting you. Another good indicator of placement is that your foot is just above the rectangle of the dash attack. Also, avoid the freeze game glitch by finishing him not off at the left corner.

Video is played on impossible, giving enough stylish points for A+.
Youtube video Alternative Method - Courtesy of Fro (May be faster on a easier difficulty but slower on harder ones)
Down+D boss to the right until the enemy is in the right corner and he will disappear and go behind you. When he does this jump in the air and push down+D after he is finished with his attack. Continue with the down+D again. (The entire time you should be in the corner) and he will do the same thing. Just keep repeating. If he doesn't attack, you can cause him to attack by jumping and Down+D in air. Youtube Video
