Reviews for "An Old Friend"

Good the first 30 secs

This movie got old fast, the use of the wierd "Batman-style" camera angles was used way to much. It seemed to drag on for a long long time. Didnt really care to see people deal with their emotions (maybe because i dont know how to deal with mine). But its not that great and you could use some variety. Better luck next time.

Well, okay

The cartoony graphics were kind of a mood-killer, but offset by the good choice of music. Unfortunately, although it was an admirable effort, this movie was kinda dragged down by the narrative, which seemed to be trying to mash the "pathos button" too hard. Just went through the same old, tired, step-by-step process of making a sad "dead friend" poem. Except it wasn't even a poem either, just a monologue with numerous line breaks. Hey, it was still a good try though, and still kinda sad in a quiet, nostalgic way. The sort of sad that almost makes you smile, y'know?

snifff

what a great movie men i understand you i lose my cousin that was like my best friend for me keep going whit fine movies like this

That was ok

Don't many serious movies on newgrounds so its pretty cool that you gave one a try. Just a few tips though. Just text on a black screen does not set the mood for what you wanted. Next time you should try different effects until you see something you like. Example: when the scene by the grave you could put words with an alpha of about 60 float across the screen slowly to give it a sad feel.
Also your scenes look much nicer. Since you only tween them try adding nicer clean look to them. And since this was like a cartoon movie you should have tried to kinda make things out of place. Like for the building you should of made it like a sqaure bottom but as it goes furthur up kinda deform it to one side. That gives it a cartoonish look.
And one more thing draw your scenes on paper first and try drawing it from different angles until you see an angle that fits the emotion you want.
Over all it was a really good movie and I liked the poem also gj.

Thanks for the tips. Say, why the name? Is it any reference to my company, Planet Arse Productions?

Poignant

A walk on the more serious side of life this movie was well executed in every aspect. Might have been better as a Noir??
