LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Fank u fank u fank u! Your track is sooooo good as well, your singing has really improved (and it was good last year too)! Best of luck :3

Wow! Great work with this. The chord progression at the end was excellent. It was creepy and epic in all the best ways. :]

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I had fun with the chords in this song in general, as it needs to be a certain type of genre to work with these kinds of harmonies :p

This is one of my favourite songs from you, which is saying a lot. The chanting choir throughout the song is an amazing addition, and I particularly love the use of strings; seriously, I love this song. It's pretty strange for me to like a song like this, I never have listened to music of this sort, so great job :)

Also, what does NGADM stand for? I assume NewGrounds, but what is the rest?

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hey there!

I am quite into video game music and movie scores, so this song is very much inspired by such music. There's also a bit of Mozart in it. I'm really glad if people who listen to my music end up enjoying it even if it's a genre they don't generally listen to so much :D
Thanks for that.

The NGADM stands for the Newgrounds (well guessed!) Audio Deathmatch; a competition between the musicians of the site, happening once a year. I've come in second place once, but it seems that I'm always busy with other things during the competition, meaning I don't have time to put my all into it. Maybe one year!

Here's another project I finished.
This definitely was an interesting song to build to, I had a great time with it.
Next up, Staying with You.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Oh wow, this is crazy. Your level is so beautiful, and once again, I'm honored to see your interpretation of this piece. You know, AIM is running right now, so you've inspired me. I will compose (just on the piano) tonight. I can't promise it will be any good, but expect to see an upload from me within the coming days.

Btw, Staying with You is one of my personal favourites as well. It's almost creepy how you share some of my own tastes in my own music, haha. You're looking very deep!

I like the airy choir at the beginning. It even sounds like they’re even singing in Latin, which is pretty cool! The minimal, atmospheric part at :18 with the whispered vocals is just haunting, and I love the melancholy violin solo at :37 too. The enormous jump in pitch it takes at :54 is both incredibly graceful and reflective of the abruptness of death. I like the injection of energy at 1:11 and the more frantic string lines at 1:30. The tempo automations at 1:50 are nice, but I’m not sure I quite liked the mixing effects that made the vocals sound more hollow there - sounds pretty artificial. Still, the choir’s call-and-response action with the frantic string lines at 2:00ish are really nice, and the last vocal phrase hits the piece home well. I especially like the gong at the end. Overall, this is a really neat track with some killer sound design that would make any real-life violin player drip with sweat. :D Let me know if there’s somewhere I can download this, and in the meantime keep up the good work! ^_^
