"Rorschach's Journal"
"October 12th, 1985. Tonight, a Comedian died in New York."
Well, with all fo the fan art that I've seen for Watchmen, this is by far the most insightful, faithful and subtle that I've seen. It reminds me of the images that I've seen in the original graphic novel and I found myself actually getting my copy out to check the detail.
Not the exact art copy, but I prefer that it isn't - the work is eerily similar to Moore & Gibbons' most celebrated work, that there isn't really that much explanation needed. In fact, you've only used the word "watchmen" once, and that was for the tag. It brings a lovely quality to the piece and if I were hyper critical, I'd say that you're a little too tidy with your work, as 1985 New York was quite dilapidated and dirty, both in the novel and the movie, where yours looks quite clean and the absence of dirt is almost chilling, to be honest.
The reflection in the coffee cup would have been brilliant, except the water looks a little still - keep the audience guessing a little more and make it just that little bit more subtle, to finish it off.
