On its own, I think this game is too simple for an RPG, with it being entirely linear. However, I know that it is part of a series. I think most of the changes between this and the alpha version (the first in this series) are good. I much prefer the menu design, overall UI, and I think not having as much max HP early on is good. However, it seems like you've kept the old amounts that they heal, which means that there are multiple things that just increase your HP to max.

Also, a big problem i've noticed in both this, and the alpha, is that the timing for the music things is weird. I can rarely seem to get it to work, and its unclear when exactly you are supposed to press the buttons. If this isn't fixed, I probably won't play as Eli.

With Jolyne, on her spark timings, it feels like when the bar stops is slightly after when you press it, which can be annoying.

Also, I found with Jolyne, just using spark is enough, I barely used the normal attack. I think the normal attack could give more MP when done perfectly, making it more useful.

This is supposed to be a PC game but for some reason I can't get the timing to be 100% consistent in the web build. I've added things to make it more consistent but I'll keep trying until it feels right!

I recently made a design change to nerf jolyne's regular attack damage and buff spark's damage after baleful blow to make the regular attack primarily used to recover MP, but you're right I should change how much MP it recovers too. Thanks for the suggestion!

Nice game, I can't talk about most enemies difficulty since I got very lucky with crying ruining precision and status duration. There's a bug about the firebomb present reappearing if you battle vs Pete(that you're going to do to for the refill vs a pacific opponent). Too bad that I tried keeping them thinking they would be as useful as in Lisa the Painful just to use like 4 of the 40 I farmed with that trick 😭

I knew about the firebomb trick and left it in as I figured it'd be a fun little exploit for people that discover it and firebombs weren't that powerful haha

Great game, I'm assuming it's a bug but Eli's defense buff cost no mp and never expired which made him much stronger than Jolyne since he always had like 25% damage reduction and heals on most hits whereas Jolyne has to waste a lot of turns applying debuffs, healing, and using items

Thanks for pointing that out! Right now defense up is supposed to last the entire fight since it's a small increment each time you use it, but just fixed the mana cost bug!

really fun game, would love to see it get expanded in the future, with more enemies, playable characters and such
