Reviews for "endK - Funkadunk"

NGADM Review time!

Composition 4.5/5 (Yes, I broke my "no halves" rule for you. Be proud.)
I'm becoming more familiar with your style, the high intensity, "genki" feel that permeates your work is definitely something I think you have mastered. Lots of people imitate others but I believe you have created a niche of our own here. I must admit, I find it a little tiring in the long run, I would have appreciated a slightly longer pause in the song just so I'm ready to go again.

Production 4.5/5
Almost flawless. It's full, punchy and dynamic. For me, personally, it was a little loud at times but that's a minor gripe in the world we live in today.

Sound Design and/or Instrumentation 5/5
I feel like everything comes together really well, you've made great use of all the instruments and there's a place in the song for everything to shine. The different textures work very well together.

Performance or Programming 5/5
You know your instruments. It's clear to me that you're familiar with their strengths and weaknesses and are able to use them to their full extent.

"Je Ne Sais Quoi" (Genre/case specific extras) 5/5
My final words would be to say congratulations on this track and your efforts so far. It's not surprising you've made it this far with the tracks you've made. In this case I can see you're still building towards something and changing things up. Awesome work!

Damn, this has a really Sonic Mania vibe + Future Funk vibe to it. I love it. Could also fit for a very fast paced type of boss battle. <3

I'm thinking the same!
Thanks for the review Neko, glad you like it! <3

I like the vinyl scratches at the beginning and the quirky pads at :02. The thin-sounding bass, brass, and organ synths combine to form a fun, jazzy texture that still doesn’t take itself too seriously. The rhythmic elements of the piece are really enjoyable, and I like the more laid-back bridge at 1:31. The strings there sound pretty fake, but they blend in with the cheesy, VGM tinge of the rest of the sound design. As fun as all the little melodic riffs and call-and-response format of the texture are, I would’ve liked to hear some more dynamic melodic content here. I don’t think you had much novel content in the last minute of the piece, which gives the composition a bit of a stagnant vibe towards the end. The ending itself also comes on pretty suddenly. Still, you nailed the sound design, rhythmic content, and mixing here. Keep at it, EndK! ^^

Yeah, I think that both me and you see the pattern here. :D
And that iiiis - I'm not really god with the deadlines so I barelly changed any melodic content in the last minute.
This was also a thing in one or two other tracks during the contest.
Thanks TL - for this and all other review during the contest, I really appreciate your input.
