Reviews for "Super Plantoid"

Damn, couldn't find one of those seeds. Will replay in a while.
(Had to swap z with x because jumping with x is weird.)
Great game!

UPD: great to get a reaction from developers :) I just replayed the game - I've got 19 seeds again, I'll keep looking. Also, need to find that mysterious gold skin. But at least there's some progress, because you know what - melon! This is fun)

ShogunPixelArt responds:

We are so happy you decided to give the game another go, read the manual "carefully" and check the comments ;)

I always pay attention to all the feedback our players leave us, it's the second most enjoyable part of making games, being with people when they play it. To be fair I was sure nobody will find the golden skin, but I'm super happy I was wrong.

Melon.

Simple cypher. Fun!

Game was enjoyable, it would be nice if the bubble power would last a little longer when throwing it, the despawn time made the platforming that required using it pretty tricky. If skipping the planting animation is required in order to complete some of the harder platforming challenges, then this should have been a consideration. It was also super hard to see in the dark areas, which I get is the point, but maybe the light power could light up a larger area. Neat that it has a stun effect when thrown, but didn't find any real use for it. It would also be neat to allow maybe using the number keys for seed selection on planting instead of having to navigate a menu, maybe that would have helped with the timing.

ShogunPixelArt responds:

It is not. The whole game was design with two simple ideas behind it. You only need on berry to solve any puzzle, no weird timing required. The reason why you are even able to have two bubbles is a side effect of a quick fix we implemented fairly late in to the development of the game. The grow animation was to long and considering how much you had to repeat the whole process sometimes it got annoying, so we allowed players to skip the whole thing. Not ideal but we didn't had time to work on something else.

The second idea, if we could port this game to NES it should be playable with NES controler, which meant besides the movement we had only two action keys one for jump and the other well, for everything else in the game. So yeah the game doesn't require any timing other than jumping at the right time to avoid some of the enemies.

Also good job at finding and solving one of the little puzzles in the manual ;)

Very nice game

You need a map or something to keep track of where you have and haven't been.

ShogunPixelArt responds:

We kinda wanted to make a "simple" version of a minimap for the game, but even that was way out of scope for a 3-day jam game, unfortunately.

I dunno where that last Artijoke seed is, but I MUST have it!

Anyways, good game. Just need to speed up the growing process and it'd be great.

(Melon.)
