Reviews for "ZemmiPhobia"

It's a game, there is art that generally look recognizable, the menu theme music is nice, and the game music is exciting enough, if muffled, similarly with the huffs and death screams.

While the art is pretty much comprehensible the hitboxes attached to the art don't feel quite accurate, and the obstacles don't feel like they're attached to the ground, the stalactites, stalagmites and bone piles seem to slide toward the player, rather than the player running toward them, and the bone piles disjointed explosion doesn't do a very good job of letting the player know they're stumbling backwards, losing ground to the mole rat king. A less bombastic animation for the pile, and maybe an animation for the miner nearly falling would likely translate what happened to the player better. Also there's an odd shaded box around and slightly behind the miner's head?

The bar at the top of the screen showing how far you are from death, and the position of the miner on screen don't seem to have a whole lot to do with when you lose, other than you probably won't when you're on the right half of the bar. If you aren't the mole rat king can attack(?) and you lose, though the miner is not much closer to the king. If you get stuck behind one of the seemingly, entirely randomly placed rack formations, and get pulled off screen, the king will just keep running, as you have entered his death field and are no longer relevant. Sliding seems to change what animation the miner does, and nothing else, so the fact that it's a computer only feature, doesn't matter at all.

Lastly, the score system seems to not work for me, for some reason, possibly vpn, possibly a bad server, I don't really know or care all that much, but since I played it and saw a number of things that could be better, feedback seemed appropriate. I hope making this has been a good learning experience for those involved.

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it, I’ll be debugging next week so maybe come back in a while and you’ll like it more.

Just my opinion, no hard feelings or hate =)

The only positive side of this game are the visuals and the animations, they look really advanced and pretty neat. The music is okay, I guess.

But..
Why have super bland fonts for the about section and the main menu, while you have a great combination of font and background for the "Back" button. Keeping it plain and simple is great for Credits, but surely there are fonts who are more fitting for a video game menu.

The gameplay is simplistic but still very luck-based, sometimes if you want to jump over an obstacle you inadvertently collect an item. The diamond isn't really worth collecting for the slightly higher score because its making you go way too fast and you can no longer accurately dodge incoming obstacles.

It's really hard to even differentiate between the background or foreground design and what is actually an in-game obstacle. Maybe have the ingame obstacles stand out more or be more unique (Having stalagmites as foreground design and obstacles is confusing).

Why can you crouch or slide if it has no effect? lol

Great visuals, great animation but horribly unsatisfying gameplay.
Sorry I can only give this 2 Stars.

Mabelma responds:

I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for taking the time to write it.

interesting game but terribly poorly done, take it again and give specific moves and mechanics

P.S OK, Big Artist!

Mabelma responds:

Read the instructions baby boi

VoicesByCorey responds:

Get gud

Not the best game in practice but, keep it up.
Suggestion for a big quality of life change in future games would be to not send the player all the way back to the main menu on retry.
Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback

Game is crudely made. Each run is just rng based on how not bad things spawn. I would recommend getting rid of the light mechanic or massively overhauling everything in the game. I do enjoy the first cutscene but it is annoying to have to skip it everytime since the run starts immedialty and I can't use W/S as up/down replacements. Would love to come back and play this again but as I said prior everything except the visuals needs a lot of work.
