Alright.

A nice time trial kind of a game. Personally, I dig the idea. It has very good presentation, great atmospheric music and minimalistic yet slick visual design. Even for a demo, it feels somewhat complete and with a specific design in mind. Still, i think the level design, while varied (be it in level length, the amount and difficulty of shortcuts, the amount of turns and straight sections, etc), is a bit rough around the edges. In particular, the shortcuts were too, in a sense, on-the-nose for my taste, because they are usually more straight that the main track and don't require as much sharp turns. I think they should be made a bit more difficult all-around.

The controls (erroneously stated as a "three-button control scheme"™) are good but not as clear as they could've been. I don't really get the need to dedicate four buttons for each turn, since the plane's rotated by the same angle, but eh. I think you also need to work on accelerating aspect before the release of the full game and make in a bit more intuitive. I like that for optimal straight movement one needs to develop a certain rhythm of alternating the left and right keys (because there's a very subtle acceleration to turning), and that you still need to alternate the keys even during turns if you don't want to lose speed, but there should definitely be a speed indicator of sorts (yeah, the sound of the engine's getting louder, that's a very nice touch, but it's not a good metric of your speed).

The game is also quite buggy though. In particular, one can start to boost before the level has loaded, guaranteeing a full speed on start-up. Also, audio hiccups on level start, times sometimes not registering on the scoreboard and the screen becoming green by managing to select the level twice aside, there's a bug that threatens the integrity of the whole competition. Very seldomly (the timing is kinda strict on this one), if you perform the aforementioned boost, your will quickly accelerate to a ludicrous speed which can't be obtained normally, allowing you to complete the levels much much faster (1 or 2 seconds depending on a level). I am quite certain that the scores of two gentlemen on top of the leaderboards are fraudulent, and they either found a way to consistently abuse the bug, or waited for it to trigger on all of the levels. Unfortunately, i haven't found a way to reproduce the bug in a consistent manner. I think it's reasonable to get times in the range 37-39 secs tops without it - please correct me if i'm wrong.

Overall, i'm satisfied with the demo, even if feels a bit undercooked. Still, i'll be sure to follow the project, since it has some potential in various level playstyles and designs and replayability with upgrades. 7/10.

also please add baloo from talespin as a secret unlockable k thx

hey, thanks for the review. You dont need to hit all 4 buttons. The idea is just that you can hit any of them so the game is more accessible :)

Not too bad. Although, how to regain time is kind of exhausting

It's ok but very short and kind of anonymous in terms of design.

It's a really good concept, but it's a bit buggy. Mainly when I complete a level, It doesn't register my time, regardless of if I'm faster than the par time or not.

sorry! something broke while we were fixing an exploit. if you play it again and beat any of the levels (regardless of your time) it should resubmit!!

Game's pretty fun, but building momentum is a bit confusing to learn, IDK if I am supposed to hold Jand K or bash it to gain momentum...
