Holy shit, this way more dark than the original. Cool cutscenes though! I liked the meta systems.
What I thought could be better is that you've really discouraged from playing aggressively, with having to destroy buildings (which takes eggs), the way you lose progress if you don't do damage, and all the difficult foxes you face later on. That's a shame, because herding foxes is challenging and has some depth to it. I like the enemies, but you're incentivized to stay still and take like 3 enemies at a time, and the game lets you do that. Even the gun foxes conveniently move in closer for you to hit them so you never have to stop turtling.
I'd either make forward progress easier but make the pressure behind you mount up faster, or I'd reward you with eggs for each new bit of horizontal progress you make. Perhaps give the chicken a single extra life per day as well, so she can "dodge" one collision and use up her life, so it isn't so punishing to play fast? Just to give an impression of the kind of change I'm thinking of.
