This is a perfect example of a great artist limited by his tools. You did a great job! This is impressive stuff, but for the love of god leave SFM behind. The outdated models and limited resources of SFM do not do justice to your animation work. I rarely see anyone doing animations this long, so detailed, and with so much effort put into the plot as well. A 30 minute video, who else is doing that? No one.
The problem is that it just looks old. Several other artists have been using things like Blender and such for a while now, and the models and textures look phenomenal. Not to mention the other tools at their disposal, like better fluids and lighting for example.
Listen, at the end of the day I am a layman, and I am only speaking from my personal experience, so forgive me if I said anything dumb. I just really want to see more works like yours, that really go the extra distance to deliver a complete piece of art, but I would like them to look modern too.
Also, maybe there could've been a better balance with the time dedicated between the action and the plot. I think the plot and characterization are essential to the immersion, but it shouldn't take too much time away from action, and specially great if you can merge both to save time. Just a suggestion to your future endeavors.
