Reviews for "Mina Miner: Dig Deep!"

Definitely a pretty unique clone of brickbreaker, but a lot of decisions here left me scratching my head. For example, there are many blocks that you have to hit twice to break. These most of the time leave you having to do multiple hits just to break 1 block. Another confusing choice made here was to have the drill be oftentimes excruciatingly slow. This combined with the many bricks that you have to hit multiple times to break or that you can't break at all will leave you with many moments where you go up to almost a minute without any real action. The worst levels are easily the ones where you have to break the minerals, as aiming at specific blocks is made basically impossible without the assistance of a powerup or just an insanely good stroke of luck. This is due to the completely random direction that the drill goes in. Sometimes it will randomly break 20 blocks at once, other times it will hit a wall once and just bounce back up at you. The levels are very repetitive, basically all repeats of the same 2 or 3 level structures with a random layout and objective. The music's pretty good, and the art looks good even if it is a bit amateurish. (god, saying that makes me feel like such a dick) And for all the complaints about the game's really weird programming, the gameplay could certainly be a lot worse. Defnitely good for an amateur effort, and maybe I'd like it more if I played the custom levels or multiplayer, but after trudging through adventure mode I honestly just felt like playing brickbreaker. 4/10.

I wrote a big ol response to this last night and clicked away before I sent it. I don't agree with all of your criticisms, but you do make some good points. Personally I think it's at least a 5/10 for an NG game, you aren't IGN and I'm not a AAA studio lol. Thanks for the review!

i couldnt even play adventure mode, the only thing that worked was VS

larrynachos responds:

Apparently some people have had an issue accessing certain parts of the game, but just saying it doesn't work for you doesn't help me. First, I'd like to know what OS and browser you're playing in. Second, I'd like to know if there were any errors that popped up in the browser console (press f12) that might help me establish where the problem is coming from.

On level 10 my puck got permanently stuck on the right side between the wall and the first brick. Took 2 minutes to get unstuck just to get stuck 3 moves later again in the same place. Also the puck goes everywhere but where i actually aim it at. It bouced 5 times once between walls going up and down for no reason.

Also, not a fan of the jokes.

larrynachos responds:

If it got unstuck, then it wasn't permanently stuck. But thanks for letting me know, I'll adjust the level design and implement a thing that detects it. I suppose I could make the default drill gravity stronger, but in testing that resulted in the drill never really reaching the paddle.

TeraVex responds:

Rip I’ll get better material for the future

no se puede jugar el movimiento de la placa para evitar que llegue ariba va laguado a diferencia de lo demas.

welp It's broken for me I can't play it

edit: sorry for the late response I didn't see the reply but the adventure button and the level creator button won't respond so I can't play

larrynachos responds:

Care to elaborate?
