Umm.. Ok.. I am surprised no one is commenting about the games mechanics. I have no problem with this being an inverted and themed breakout clone. Visually it is nice. I also like the hazards (mostly) and varying goals. But the mechanics are horrid.
Unlike the typical breakout game (or pretty much every paddle based game) where the 'drill' hits the paddle doesn't seem to impact the direction of the drill, meaning the player has no control over avoiding obstacles or how they finish the level. Your only goal as a player is to prevent the drill from hitting the upper boundary. I.e. all you can do is survive.
The drill itself even defies breakout style movement rules, not always ricocheting in a logical manner. This goes on to the extent that the drill will sometimes go the opposite direction it should go.
These two points in themselves sap the fun from this game. Then we toss in the electric drill. All of the other bonuses or hazards (including the lights out) can be worked with, the electric drill seems entirely random, you can't tell where it is going to decide to go. Yes, i get that it is a hazard, but it is pointless and annoying IMHO.
Finally. mouse capture. During a level your actual cursor becomes invisible yet the game doesn't capture the mouse. The second your mouse leaves the game (which happened to me more than once) the paddle stops. I would suggest you either capture the mouse or leave it visible so that we can see when we are drifting near the edge.
I understand that you put a lot of work into this game, and it shows. The visuals and theme are nice and suitable. I just cant get past the flaws that turn this from really great to mostly just annoying.
