Wundergame
Wonderful RPG for 2000 standards. Good gameplay, cute manga graphics, excellent game.
Alright everyone, this was created in 2000.
This is a classic and is great just because of that.
Many people are assuming that this was created in some later age like 2009 or 2010, but no, it was created in 2000, and the technological advancements from 2000 to 2010 have been HUGE. This would have easily been a 5/5 game in 2000!
I'm sure that if this creator tried remaking this game's concept TODAY, it would be great!
Better flash RPGs out there
It seems this game wanted to be a new kind of RPG. An RPG mixed with a rail shooter, but it doesnt appeal to me very well. The artwork is bland and not very pleasent to look at, however this game is old so I wont hate a whole ton on the MS paint graphics.
The battle system IS interesting, in a "trying to think outside the box" kind of way, but its doesnt work for one reason. And that reason is that it isnt very satisfying when I kill an enemy, no cool death animetion or sound effect (not to mention that the character's attack animetions look absolutly silly). The fact you go back to the beginning of the game when you die is unforgiveable, especially for an RPG.
All in all, Absalom has not aged well. now a days there are better RPGs on newgrounds. so unless its out of nostalgia, I wouldnt waste my time with this game. BUT since this game is old and didnt have a lot of software to work with, I will be nice and give it an average score, saving it from the pits of shit.
