Reviews for "Hexplore"

I couldn't figure out what the magic word is

edit:
forget it, I already made it

An automatic save would be appreciated! However, this game is amazing and very original! Thanks :)

There is a big bug: when I use the glove on the beast which has eaten the rooster, the shark comes back and I have to make again the capture with the sword, the Pokemon ball, etc.

I have finished as expert. However, I have not found the easter egg and Moose flashlight hexperience (Maybe I have to show the flashlight also to the unicorn...).

Video WT (perfect end, Moose off mode): https://youtu.be/H2_D6UZKfIo

But I never found the easter egg :(

Not sure what to put on the box. I am guessing that I am preparing a gift for under the tree? Been doing that part for too long now and I don't know what I need to create...

The snake and moose are friends, but I can't bring one to the other.

Do I need the candle to light the dynamite? Does the dragon light the candle?

Why can't I get past a cow?

Why can't I get in the kitchen (maybe I need the moose's help for that?)

I can't catch that crazy bird in time! ahhhh

good game still having fun

I'm lost can't move I have a coin can't return in the kitchen don't know what to do with the alligator and the chicken.Very interesting game

One of the best Point'n'Click games on Newgrounds for years, can't believe it hasn't been rated higher. Really nostalgic, beautifully made. A self-consistent and detailed fantasy world that had me in fits of laughter with its warm humour. Graphics are gorgeous in a style that suits a dream-like game, and voice-acting which so often lets these games down was very strong and really helped drive the characterisation. One sign of a good game is I can't even tell you who my favourite character was, there were several I was invested in (Prof Cow and The Terminal made me laugh the most) but there were many characters I really "liked" (alicorn, moose, hippo, knight, octopus...) despite more limited roles in the plot, due to expressive drawing and good voice acting. The talent for Prof Cow, alicorn and The Terminal all sound good enough to be doing professional voice work.

As for the game-play, I guess some hardcore PnC fans might say it lacked depth or difficulty as there was no pixel hunting nor puzzles where multiple items needs to be combined, but for me those are the most frustrating elements and I was glad the gameplay was simpler and much more about exploration, meeting characters and having fun. The fact many aspects of the game happen with a time-lag was more realistic (and challenging!) than PnC games where everything happens instantly. The arts puzzle is imaginative but very tough - I don't think it would be unfair to give players a little more guidance on what was right/wrong with their creation once moose has told them what to do. My screen colours are a bit off so I didn't notice the ability to mix paint until I was given the hint, but that was only after many failed attempts! There are a couple of minor glitches where subtitles don't appear, and the worst thing I found was when you talk to a partially clothed octopus, his clothes temporarily vanish.

The "Hexpert" ending is well worth getting for the additional material. Haven't tried the Moose-off mode. The bonuses are quite fun to get too. I liked the Easter egg - is that a Flight of the Conchords-inspired song in the background?

Finally THE MUSIC. In the intro in particular. Did you make it yourself?! It was super-nostalgic and suits the game perfectly.

Thank you for such a thorough review! It was a lot of fun to make and I'm really happy people are enjoying it :D
