Reviews for "State your name"

wait. so even if you help violet, you lose?

OwlyCode responds:

I wouldn't call this lose. I did not define a good or a bad ending. It's up to you!

realy amazing

For a short game this shows great creativity. The plot is good (slightly let down by the spelling and grammar though some of that might be deliberate) and use of colours was very clever. Just a shame there are only two endings to explore, which would have required more time of course.

PS "Alan" makes a lot of sense in context, but why "Violet"?

OwlyCode responds:

Thank you! For the spelling and grammar it's sadly not deliberate as I am a non-native english speaker. I will get those fixed after the Ludum Dare voting is over. Don't hesitate to send the one you spotted to me, it will help me a lot to improve.

I chose Violet as a name because when you meet her, she's just that color. She asks you to find her, and it's by this name that you find her. I didn't feel the need to elaborate more, and it is funny this could imply that Alan had a color name before passing the test (what would it be? Violet said they were one with Alan at the beginning) Also violet is the complementary color of yellow, which you are "trained" to like, and is also the color of the Observer (so you are trained to love the Observer, the opposite of Violet).

Wonderful story

I really enjoyed this game. Nice use of color texts. Nice looping of scenarios. Well done!
