Reviews for "Flail Fall"

What a nice game, especially for a jam game. No switches, buttons, keys, or intractables of any kind, yet it felt more like a puzzle platformer than most that claim the distinction. Its only limitation is length, which is understandable. Well done!

Fast review: the game have a lot of potencial, it shows a fun 10 min gameplay that match with the genre of the game, , the last part is kinda hard because of the jump at the end to reach to the last checkpoint, but the rest of the game is excellent, but there's a small problem i dont like so88888888888ecause (at least me) use more WASD to move that the arrows, if both arrows and Wasd work, my score can be from 4.0 to 5.

Pixelulsar responds:

Done! I just added support for WASD controls.

I also agree with your comment about the last jump. I wanted to make a difficult ending, but feel like the last jump didn't really fit with the game. It's just a bit too precise to be fun with the "out of control" jumping gimmick and I probably wouldn't have kept it if I had more time to think about level design than the 48h Game Jam allowed.

The last checkpoint was very hard because the last jump was not expected to be just a normal jump xD

Pretty cool take on the theme! we don't see as many platformers where the character feels so heavy and much less athletic than the average platformer hero, that's a nice spin.

I like how it feels more like a puzzle where you have to figure out the right sequence of actions for each part as you keep going down. Once there were fire spiners and a ton of spikes I found it a bit frustrating so that's where I gave up.

Good job!

Haha, pretty funny concept! It's an interesting take on ragdoll mechanics in a 2d environment, and using them in a strategic manner to figure out the ideal route for each puzzle setup was pretty fun! Was a little annoying to have to wait for the stun to wear off after each jump, and also dying respawns you a bit too fast which can lead to another immediate death if you were holding a button and run into some spikes. Some of the controls were also a bit counter-intuitive, like how you don't have even the slightest air-control at all and it wants you to dash before jumping when it is so often the other way around in games: can feel a bit frustrating because of this. Nonetheless, I had fun, and I wish there was more to this game to get through as it ended just as it was starting to get really in the groove!
