Reviews for "Alien attack"

very buggy and feels unfinished.

1.The music look like it rip right off of Jeopardy!
2.All of the enemies do the same.
3.Bugs and Glitches!

This game has a lot of issues. I can't really critique the core gameplay because so much of it is shrouded in issues with programming. So I'll just say a few things about presentation before I move on to the technical issues with this game.

Okay, first a few comments about presentation. The visuals don't look great, in regards to art direction, but that's not a huge problem. I wish the resolution was more consistent and higher overall, and I wish there was a greater sense of unity in the visual design that set it apart, I wish there was more animation and particle effects, but that's fine. Hardly the largest issue the game has. However, the low UI resolution makes UI extremely hard to read. I couldn't tell what the two buttons in the main menu were saying until I looked at the author comments.

The music sounds ok, if a bit repetitive. I just wish the music when you were playing was more intense to reflect the mood of the actual game.

Ok, now it's time to talk about by far this game's biggest failure. Even if the gameplay and presentation were pristine it would be severely limited by all the technical issues on display. By the way, I'm playing on chrome, just in case any issues are chrome-specific. I doubt it however, as most just seem to be design and programming issues.
Here is a list of the ones I've been able to find:
- I have no idea what the arrow button does when you die. As far as I can tell, it has no effect. Weird thing is, it works as a respawn button in time trial mode and is perfectly functional, but does nothing in causual. This is an especially big issue when the second button that takes you back to the main menu only sometimes appears. I think it has something to do with the way you die. I have no idea what does this.
- Weapon bullets have low range, but instead of just despawning after they reach that range, the stop there and despawn after a while. It was hard to test whether their hitboxes were still active when they were still, but either way, it's an issue.
- arrow keys can be used to move left to right but for some reason only "w" can be used to jump.
- after you die, pressing "w" makes a screen ripple effect for some reason. I have no idea if this is intentional or not.
- When ufos touch you they deal damage but then they just awkwardly stay on top of you. They don't seem to deal damage until your hitboxes are separated and then come back into contact. To fix this, just add some pushback to the UFOs when they touch the player.
- It's possible to use UFO damage knockback to push yourself out of bounds and softlock yourself.
- After playing time trial a certain amount of times, I couldn't play it again. I would go to the instructions screen and that would take me back to the main menu.

These are a small sample of the technical problems I experienced. The game is not good in this regard, to put it lightly.

In conclusion, I didn't like this game. I just recommend that you don't try to fix it, and instead focus on another project that tries really hard not to repeat the mistakes of this one. After all, as far as I can tell it's your first game, and all first games are pretty much destined to be bad. That's just how they work. Move on from here, and make something better. Good luck on that next project, whatever it may be.

Im glad that you pointed that out! In some day my games will be glorious!
