Reviews for "Fish Canon (Prototype)"

One of the best games i've played in a while , cured my stage 3 leukemia and it enabled me to see my dead gf's tomb

good but not too much to do you should try coming back to this progect

This is among the impressive entries that don't look at all like your typical Game Jam fare when people get just one weekend, and whoever decided to make it a month long jam might have been on to something... even if you did still upload it at 11:59 in true Game Jam style :)

I'll echo GoodL's comment that your tutorials were really helpful, and in my case showed me how to set up the preloader correctly with a minimal init scene followed by a true preloader scene.

I see you have a lot of stuff you already plan to add so no need for me to make more suggestions there; the only comment I have so far is that by the end of the tosses the fish is moving and bouncing awfully slow so I might recommend harder stops at the end and/or keeping more horizontal velocity near the end so the player gets the feeling like the fish is still making decent progress until then.

PsychoGoldfish responds:

I ended up tweaking the drag stuff because it really was slowing you WAY too much. Now you have to make the fish almost perfectly vertical to slow down (and you'll see a slight effect indicating it's happening), otherwise, turning the fish will actually steer it slightly as long as you have enough speed.

WOW! This game was really a lot of fun, and captured my attention for several afternoons! I am genuinely impressed. I played Kitten Cannon. I have Tossed the Turtle many times. I've had to help Burrito Bison escape, and get his wallet back! I have launched two Hedgehogs into space! I helped a penguin fly!  I am a FAN of this genre of game. I was happy as a clam at high tide to see a new one. I must say, you did not disappoint! Something you said in your comments needs to be recognized... "This version is really bare-bones, and quite buggy. I opted to just publish it anyway (as a prototype.)" Anyone playing or reviewing it, needs to take those words into account. Given that this is the "bare bones" version, and is a "prototype," this is fucking AMAZING. Your game is complicated enough to be thoroughly engaging, while being simple enough to pick up randomly for an hour of fun. I had absolutely no use for the wings at first, because I hadn't figured out how the mechanics of the game worked. The fact that I got to figure it out later speaks volumes about the complicated way you build a game. They way you balanced forward velocity with shedding of altitude was brilliant. The use of the wings became obvious once I'd been playing for a while, and found a usable strategy. (Trying not to spoil too  much here!) I do recognize that your game is unfinished. I've looped through it a few times, but now I am stuck because I cannot upgrade my cannon any further. (Again, as you said, it is a buggy prototype, this type of thing is expected.) I am really looking forward to seeing you finish this game. Thank you for all the fun it has already brought me. I will follow you, and look at other games you have written. Also, I respect that you shared the hack that you came up with to make the sound work correctly in Fish Canon. I respect people that engage in broad team work, and help others, instead of being strictly competitive.

5 stars honestly this game is good remind me a another cannon game
