Reviews for "Relic Guardians: Arcade"

it so nice but i think that the game just need skip the intro because the first time its ok but if i want to play again... it could be bad

rotcivsette responds:

Just updated the game so you can fast forward the intro and credits. Double click/tap to do it :)

The lack of in-game tutorial might be a little problematic for beginners.

rotcivsette responds:

The question mark next to the NEW game button on the title screen is the tutorial. I guess it's not very easy to find or kinda misleading. I'm taking notes. Thank you for the feedback!

I think there's a ton of potential here, but to list off things I wasn't too happy about:

1. The long tutorial, I understand its useful to have, but after learning SP, I just wanted to move on right away.
2. The long intro (I'm an impatient player lol so this might just be me)
3. Grammar. Wasn't too big of a problem for me, but others might be annoyed.
4. In my first battle I got hit without being able to do anything and started with lower health. Felt a bit unfair that the enemy got a free fight even though I initiated the battle

What I enjoyed:

1. The SP moves being interactive was the best!! I usually zone out in turned-based games, but making it have that action-rpg feel made me enjoy the game play a lot!! (though it would have been nice to know what I was supposed to do for Wizz's SP move)
2. The character's feel different from one another and each is fun in their own way. Great job with this!!
3. The music/sfx were awesome!!

I can't wait to see what this could be with more work!! Do any of you have a Twitter?

rotcivsette responds:

Sorry for the grammar, I'm not a native english speaker and I did my best (I revised the script a lot). If you could point out some alarming stuff, it would be of great help!
And sorry, I don't have a twitter anymore. But you can follow me here on Newgrounds or the game on Game Jolt to get more news about the development.
And thank you for the awesome feedback!
PS: You can skip the intro and credits by double-clicking. I should make it more clear tho :P

I finished the tutorial and didn't get the badge. The save function doesn't work. When you click "load" the screen blinks once, you are forced to click "new." The art is nice. I like the "rock, paper, scissors" aspect with the added mechanics of the moves supporting each other. That was well thought out. You need to fix the glaring flaws before it can be considered a finished game. Were you under some kind of deadline that caused you to skip or truncate the beta testing phase? Also, the gradual gaining of health over time while you wait in between turns, breaks the game. (But I like it.)

rotcivsette responds:

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry, but it's the first time I hear about the save bug. I didn't have a lot of hands to work with, but I did what I could, so I'm sorry if you faced an issue like that. I'll look into it. And medals seem to be working fine for other people. I even saw the tutorial medal on your profile. Did you try it again?

Game is fun but buggy, had to play the tutorial 5 times because it would bug out, chain wouldn't talk to me after some events, I "killed" (got his hp to 0 but it doesn't matter) chain when he was going to show his special, etc

rotcivsette responds:

Man, I wish you'd recorded this. I tried to replicate it here, but with no success. If you can be even more specific, I'll try to hunt down the bug and update the game.
But thank you for your feedback!
