Reviews for "Xtrullor - Event Horizon (Wontolla remix)"

Well, you definitely stabilized the song. The original rythym was so unsteady, I think you fixed that perfectly. Growls were perfectly used, though it wasn't anything like Xtrullor anymore. I enjoyed it, still. The key change was well done, though it kinda transitioned Love the last 2 minutes. The faltering part kinda screwed it up though. Final comment: Nice instrument choice.

In the first part I'll clearly prefer the original version.
Then the second drop made me rethink that. The same happened when I heard the guitar (seriously, why didnt Xtrullor think about that before?).

You made something that in fact is really difficult to make. Doing a remix of a Xtrullor's song without f***ing it up. Im amazed.

I think this is very good, but I think you are somewhat wrong about this being more in the same vein as Xilent and Au5.

Sure, the sound design is similar-- lots of combs and phasers, with a bit of drive on them, but the arrangement is totally different. Hard to pick out a lot of transitions in a clean in concise way, and the rhythm just seems... messy, but it has its perks, like distinguishing your sense and style in music from others. Plus, Au5 is not much into DnB songs as he is into breakbeat/glitch and dubstep, save for a few songs like Blue (with Fractal, though).

And really, no, Stardust is not wrong about it seeming gritty and unclean-- better EQing and appropriate ducking is required to get a cleaner mix, which is hard when the rhythm is indescribably unique like you've done. Plus, there's some definite crowding in frequencies where the basses and snares collide.

Overall, I give it a 4.5/5, because it surely has its merit, and no doubt you've earned the recognition you've been given. It's just a bit unpolished in some aspects. Great melodies though, albeit mostly are those of Xtrullor.

this is awesome, i cant find any noticeable mistakes, though i have some things

the sidechain compression isn't very effective throughout the song.

the growls may seem random

and you need to add more voicing to make the synths sound more fat and detuned

now the pros:

the growls may seem random are quite sharp and used in the song in a good way

the style of the song varies during sequences

there is also variation of sequences of the song

hope this was helpful

I like how you just threw out the orchestra part, and I don't mean that sarcastically, it does sound much better.

However catch-22 it also feels too different from the original.

However it is still amazing to listen to.
