Reviews for "In Sickness"

This took a dive into disturbing elements to some extent but through the whole thing kept a decently happy tone, I don't know how I feel the ending holds up though. While I'm not usually a fan of 2D-3D blending in set pieces you managed to make it work along with inconsistent lineart, though again I feel this might have been done to put more effort and shock into the ending due to the increase of artistic quality their. Great Job!

You saw right thru it actually! I blame my lack of quality control on inconsistent lineart and some rendering issues (we did get a bit too cocky with our deadlines) but all in all as a team we thought it was a bit... poetic, how much of a mess it was to put together, matches the theme quite a bit!

thank you so much for the observation man, it's all the more valuable to have that awareness of the stitches showin but still seein the final product as something enjoyable!!

So much emotion in 9 minutes, that was some great work!

Wow I honestly don't know what to think. So many emotions coming from the first few minutes alone. Well for starters, the animation looks great with it's kinda gross at times yet cute art and use of 3d which actually works pretty well. The story is strong as well. I like the connection of the scientist and his wife and his strides to keep her alive, it really shows how they care for eachother. But what is she? Is she a normal person with horrible conditions or is she some type of homonculus creature or zombie. The ending part was kinda hard to follow. So at the end of the last act they start making out or something and after the scientist husband tries to bring her normal body back but fails? It was quite hard to follow yet an explanation would be greatly appreciated! Great animation overall! P.S. I got some Tetsuo-Power AKIRA vibes in this animation, it's probably just me idk.

melsnoodles responds:

Their relationship was the focus so I'm happy to know it got to shine, thank you!! (not the first time I've heard the Akira comparison either and its still way too flattering ahhh!)

The lack of clarity might be a direct result on my lack of experience telling stories as of now, but I still wouldn't like to give it away, I'd rather people draw their own conclusions based on what's shown, as unpolished as it might be! never heard the homonculus idea before but I dig it ;D

Great work, really in-depth!

"My dear, I'll always love you, even if you become a huge, Akira-esque meat abomination." This was more sweet and wholesome then I was expecting, the take away message--if there was one--kind of reminding me of Undertale or something similar. Very nice art/animation/non-verbal storytelling (everything for the most part was pretty clear), and the 3D backgrounds did a lot to create a sort of weird, surreal atmosphere. Bit of a Courage the Cowardly Dog vibe to em.
