Reviews for "O-Well"

It's okay. Have to agree with others that either "wad" buttons for movement or even up as an alternative for jump.

Bug report:

There's a damn mosquito in my room. (lame jokes over now...)

others have reported this but resetting cause the song to start again without killing previous song so holding "R" makes you feel like you're in a slowed down, twisted reality.

If you're quick enough you can run off an edge and grapple the ledge inverted (so you're character looks like he's holding on to thin air instead of the ledge). doesn't affect anything other than looks.

You can grapple the inside of a crumbling block so falling isn't an issue. (there is a chance that my character grappled onto the block next to him but was inverted so it looked like he was holding to the outside of nothing.)

good game, but everytime i restart the music overlaps

Thanks!

Sorry about the music overlapping like that. I'll try to figure the problem out.

I think this game has a really neat concept. It is pretty difficult although I feel as though the game relies too heavily on the idea that if you mess up you'll usually just reach the bottom. As well as that, metroidvanias usually have multiple branching paths, and in this game it seems like one continuous straight path. Metroidvanias tend to have a really light puzzle aspect but that aspect seems to be thrown out the window for this game.

Another thing to note is that it would be a neat idea if the icons on the powerups had maybe a bit of flavour text to them, I didn't initally realise what the grab technique was for until I messed around for a bit. Additionally, it could be neat if you initially had a safe environment to get used to the new technique, the first grab being something that you will start from the beginning if you mess it up feels a bit cheap imo.

That being said the artstyle is pretty neat, sound effects could be tweaked a bit, had to mute it after a while because it was getting a bit annoying. Overall I really liked the concept of the game and I hope you're able to make something out of it

Thanks for your feedback!

This is all stuff I will definitely account for in the future!

Dunno, after I get the second movement speed powerup and I got the "grab" I need to make a jump to the left which I cannot do. Or maybe I need to do something else....I have given up. One thing when I need to practice a skill to get better and another when the game is just cryptic about what I need to do.

I really like the idea and the level design but when I don't even know where I need to go is the moment I have to stop playing a game...I tried like 10 times I cannot get to the left from the blue platform. Another turn off is the fact that the jumping sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, it's the classic "slipperiness" especially at the end of platforms.

Okay
