Reviews for "DoomCraft"

An interesting concept/combination, but very poorly executed. This game is stupidly easy and boring. It could've been done A LOT more better.

To be honest, I expected more. No music, boring levels, bad hitboxes. Let me explain; The hitboxes on all enemies are weird, causing single bullet weapons (such as the pistol) to hit multiple enemies at once, which aren't even close to eachother. The weapons (especially the pistol) are stupid overpowered, one pistol shot to kill every enemy? Sounds too strong to me, maybe make it like 3 hits to make it more 'doom-like'. The enemies track you through the wall, causing them to stack against the wall into a nice and easy to kill congo line of death, please fix this, maybe make them attack on sight of the player. No music speaks for itself. Why add the mouse aim function? If you were going for the Doom feel, don't add the mouse, restrict the player to the WASD or arrow keys. The levels feel like they drag on too much, although they are around 1.5 minutes long each. I hope you can do something with this, I like the concept, but put in some extra work and maybe it'll turn out to be a 4/5 or even a 5/5 game. Good luck!

Edit: After playing a little bit more (I don't know why), it came to me that this game is just a press space and kill everything simulator, while the "main quest" (if I may call it that) is to find diamonds. However I find it more difficult to find the keys required than the diamonds (which are completely optional by the way). It gives me the feeling like I am softlocked, which after that it turns out the key was so indistinguishable from the background causing me to miss it. Okay that's it for now.

My god this game is boring. I don't know why I played it to completion. This has some of the most mind numbing level design I've experienced in a DOOM clone in a while. The rooms that are actual rooms are large, empty and dull, whereas the hallways were tight, constrictive, and dull. The rooms had no rhyme or reason, nor any decoration whatsoever. The enemies were easy to kill, I didn't die once throughout this entire game, the guns were ridiculously over powered, I never felt like I was in danger once, and the diamonds were just annoying to collect.
The complete and total lack of music just bored me further, and emphasized just how empty the entire experience was. And the *level* design, don't get me started on how much I hated that. Either you were forcing me through long hallways, which made me realize how much the textures on the ceiling was hurting my eyes, long boring rooms, or making me walk in a giant ass circle. My opinion on level six was an immediate response of: "Thank god, he got bored of making me walk in a circle and plopped the last five diamonds at the end." And of course, the mazes, which had no indication of where to go weren't much fun. You're lucky those were easy. The only reason I'm not lowering your score further is the fact that the movement, as slow and dull as it was, at least got me from point A to point B without any issues. But it certainly could have used to be faster, and completely missed the point of DOOM's fun movement. Oh, and nice job making the projectile speed of the rockets and bullets exactly the same. That was really good at killing any satisfaction the guns had in killing the enemies that typically died without any sound effects whatsoever. God, why did I waste my time on this?
