Reviews for "Black"

Really neat and fun puzzles that are rewarding when you figure them out. With some cool Vsauce soundin ass music to set the mood. My biggest problem with the game though, is the hints. They sort of ruin the challenge, which is the whole point of a puzzle.

Slight conveyance issue at level 15, the screen flashing like that is usually a sign of the level resetting, so I thought I wasn't making any progress at all. Eventually I just used the hint, which of course made it super obvious. The point is, I never had the thought to break down the numbers I was clicking because I was certain that no matter what I clicked, it reset the level.

Level 25 was my favorite concept, but was way too easy the way it's implemented. All the colors required the sliders to be all the way left or all the way right. It would have been fun to use more precision in selecting how much RG or B to blend by requiring more complex colors.

Anyway, overall it's a great game, but would like to see more complexity and less hints in the future

Success!

It's okay. Level 18 is a bit frustrating as you have it set to a full RNG instead of prioritizing the unlit blocks. Level 14 also isn't necessarily a puzzle

The game is programmed very well, and the puzzles are all incredibly intriguing and require a bit of experimentation and actual thought.

The hints are very well done, with something of a progressive element. The first hint gives the absolute slightest nudge, the second just a bit more of a nudge, and so on until it finally hands you the answer. That's a great element, so one doesn't feel like they have to spoil the entire puzzle if all they want or need is that tiny nudge, but if one just can't figure it out, having the option to have the answer just spelled out is very nice.

However, it's a bit tedious in parts; I think particularly of the puzzle where you flash a block with one button, then use two other buttons to move another block to join the first. Another example is the brick-breaker one. Once you know the solution, it should be relatively quick to finish, but in a few of these puzzles it drags out for too long. That negates the satisfaction of figuring the puzzle out and replaces it with a sense of boredom.

The game is also slightly janky to play with a laptop touch pad; a few puzzles require more precision than a touch pad really gives.

There's also a slight incongruity of level placement; I felt that some of the later ones were easier than some of the earlier ones, and by the time I called it an end the difficulty felt like it spiked up incredibly.

All in all, really solid, and I really want to see more of the author's work.

Pretty fun!
