Reviews for "Pretty Blood : Red Snow [Part 1]"

I really wanna know what happens to Rinny, I can't wait for part 2. You did the story perfectly, and all the characters' personalities. Is Rinny gonna be punished, escape, or go to jail? I hope Rinny doesn't die, at least, as I want to see more of her

so cruel but awasome!

This green thing that is trying to escape,is pretty bravery he sadly failed up

Man, why? Why this delight in gore? Why keep going with this shit? Why keep animating it? WHY? ANSWER ME

Edit: Oh! Ok I'm sorry :v

LittleCuteCorpse's "Pretty Blood" is a psychological horror series that mirrors horror games and movies today; and not in a good way. "Pretty Blood" feels like a splatter film rather than a narrative of the Horror/Drama genre. Unlike its sister-cartoons like "Happy Tree Friends" it has a very disturbing atmosphere with the lack of music, drawn out torture, and the glee that the antagonist ("Rinny" in this case.) expresses.

While the gore is at the core, story often falls flat and appears confusing at best and outright bad at worst. I do wish for a little bit of a coherent plot that is simple and to the point, tying the events of the different movies together. This may be a personal preference though.

The animation itself is quite good, very impressive for the program used and it has a very 2008 feel to it, which I feel is a positive. A lot of effort clearly went into this cartoon and I can appreciate that. The designs are adorable, and expressions are full of life and personality.

If you like seeing people (Chibified anthropomorphic animals in this case) suffer from it it may be good for you to check out. If not, it is a drawn-out, unbearable cartoon-version of a snuff film that makes you feel unsafe by even viewing it. Characters like "Rinny" are never properly punished for their act, which just makes it feel like they're in the right in the author's view. (The antagonist killed her own family and got away with it by blaming someone else. She is also seen blushing and breathing heavily while killing her daughter, which is suspiciously sexual.) I do hope that villainous characters like "Rinny" eventually get their comeuppance, which would help save the narrative from its currently very hopeless and miserable atmosphere, as well as its sexual tension.

While I enjoy violence and torture to an extent when it serves a narrative or is justified, "Pretty Blood" feels more like an unnerving desire to harm others expressed by the author which makes me feel concerned about their stability. With nothing but the torment to back it up it's hard to recommend "Pretty Blood" to anyone in its current state.
