Reviews for "No Name (Update 1.2)"

Ah yes, I remember my "I wanna make a Limbo clone" phase as well :D

This bad boy can fit so many bad design decisions in it - there's this whole design doc instead of tutorial thing, like if you were actively trying to make it as bloated and uninformative as possible, while in fact you could just stop at "Arrows to move".
You shouldn't make wavy terrain if you can't handle your character walking on it - how the game feels is more important than how it looks, especially in the basic moment to moment gameplay.
The death animation is painfully long.
The third level seems impossible to pass (I can't even get to the first hand).
You should learn how to make music not restart with every screen, this will be helpful.

On the plus side, the sinusoidal movement of mice made me chuckle :D

I bet this is newb's work, maybe even your first game, in that case - you still did great, games are complicated beasts, and you''ve decently forced your own to work.
Don't give up, improve whenever you can, learn from your mistakes, and you're gonna be great in no time :)

Ok.. so first. I would like to say that the art of the game is beautiful. Everything 'looks' really nice. Unfortunately it doesn't work nice. It works horribly. Bad collisions are constantly tossing the player around, I spent more time dicking with the controls than I did playing the game. I would also say I probably died more as a result of this than the because I screwed up. The window size feels woefully small, granted I would rather have a small window than a ridiculously giant one, but still the instruction text is practically unreadable. I wasn't quite sure how to score the game, although art is important gameplay is much more important and I felt this was more or less unplayable in the current state. That being said I really don't want to discourage you, I think it is a great start. Get things working right and this could have five stars written all over it.

Edit: Thank you for increasing the screen size. That was helpful. I did manage to muddle through the rest of the game and get to the 'end'. Of course the remainder of the problems still do exist, but I can say that the game is winnable for those who are willing to put forth the effort. Unfortunately there is not any payoff at this point. I get the feeling you are still developing the story. I am looking forward to seeing how this comes out in the end.

Daybreakismyname responds:

Thank you for your feedback. I adjusted the window size of the game to try to make the text a bit more readable in the instructions. Please let me know if this helps. As for the controls and collisions, they are still a work in progress. I've adjusted them to be smaller many times but for some reason it still has been somewhat of an issue in the game. I'll keep trying with the other developers and see if I can find a solution though.

very frustrating to controle, you cant jump and walk at the same time, feels a LOT Like limbo. I would say make it a bit more original and make the controls smoother.

The art of the game is Awesome! I just wish the controls were a bit smoother!

Character keep getting snagged on invisible obstacles on the ground, skips ahead and falls of the edge of platforms.
