Reviews for "DUCKOUT"

Oh dude, this is for the Basement Jam, damn, good one.

Well, the animation is good and smooth enough. I think it could have used some shading and smoother lines in the art. The story is not too original, but it never fails to be touching.

I think you could have done a bit better about the soldier. He should feel afraid of his superior finding him hesitating to kill them, you could also have made him stutter a bit when telling his lie.

And I think that his grin in the end wasn't the right mood, he should look moved and touched by what he saw. Maybe you could have made him look thoughtful, as if he was questioning himself and the cause he fights for.

In war this happened more often then modern history and movies admit. Many involuntary conscripted people refused to shoot at the supposed "enemy" or were shooting amiss on purpose or hid persecuted civilians like this.

Of course modern propaganda is that whoever put on that accursed uniform became a villain instantly. Never mind that both Nazis and Soviets recited most of their soldiers by coercion. As a young man you either served in military or your whole family was sent to death camp/gulag.

Good animation, but voice acting could have been better.

Really demonstrates that not all soldiers who fought for Nazi Germany actually had that "Hatred" mentality and still had humanity on their decisions when they fought in the war, and remember that this is 1940 where the wehrmacht was at it's huge in terms of strategic victory and efficiency, which meant they still had a strong belief for the fatherland and the fuhrer (and of course the nationalist socialist party), but these cases were a bit common but minor compared to the horrible things the SS and Gestapo did in both Poland and France (including all the other countries that were annexed and conquered during the anschluss).

Very nice video, dude. It kinda breaks out of the usual expectation of the basement jam (basement - dark - horror/scary) and added a nice, much needed reminder of what should not be forgotten. Living in germany I can state first hand that things neither were great back then, nor are now. The right wing is rising again because of wrong political decisions, and people should watch videos like this one right here to realise how it ended last time. A wake up call for the doubtful.

By the way, what is that very nice, soft and melancolic music in the credits called? I'm sure I heard it before somewhere but have no idea what 's its name. Would be nice if you had added that to the credits too, since I'm sure there's more people liking it and wanting to hear the full thing. It was also perfectly placed there at the end, making the viewer start thinking for himself now. Good job bro.

It was pretty short, the characters seem a little inhuman I guess you could say, and the voice acting was pretty bad. I enjoyed it though, but you can see where the story is going before the video even starts.
