Reviews for "Forest Floor"

quite a funny game

what I liked:

- the consept it self is cool. you have ressources to find so you can use them for your house
or for upgrades but you must do that before the night get upon you.

- the presence of collectibles that gives you useful passives was cool.

- the ennemi are various and have their own strategy to kill you (follower, sentinel, berserk,
coward shooter, ect) and there are even traps and mud to make it more challenging

what I think you could improove for your future games :

- add a story, even basic like "Hi ! I'm Tonny and I wanna built my house. can you help me?".
this is not a big problem for that kind of game. It's just a plus to make your game more alive.

- give some evolution to the game. something that keeps people intrested of the game is
diversity. you have it but we have seen everything you propose in the first days and the rest
is just a bigger version of what you already know. what you could have done to correct this
problem is introduce a new trap/ennemi/obstacle each day

- add some sounds and music. if you want for the music, you can use free-right music tracks
like the music from Kevin Mcleod and for the sound effects, you can go on freesound.org .
this is a easy way to have the sound for your game easily. but without any sound, we loose
a lot of immersion.

even with those little problems, the game still fun to play. good job.

Just another problem but I think it's a bug: each time I died, the mobs continue to level up and I had too restart the game becaus every mob oneshoted me a even a bunny took 10 hit to die. maybe you should just correct that.

This game is surprisingly fun! Such a simple little concept, but the time limit can make things much more tense than you would think. The art is quite rough in some places, but overall does the job.

Great work!

Great game! I had a lot of fun :D

I took off half a star for the lack of music and sound, but I found listening to lofi hip-hop made for a very relaxing experience that suited the overall tone of the game just fine.

Very straight-forward gameplay, the enemies weren't too challenging, and the maze did not get too convoluted. Your maps/level design was really neat! I was able to find my way back home different ways in the more complex levels since the paths were truly connected.

I especially enjoyed collecting the special items that were carried throughout the game. They really helped me traverse things easier and were like a small bonus/buffer.

I died a few times, ran out of time once, and, after playing through the game twice*, I was able to fully upgrade at the last level each time. Also, I liked how the screen darkened as night set in. Good touch!

That's a very enjoyable, albeit simple, game in my book. Way to go, and thanks for sharing!

*(Chrome crashed my game window after I clicked out of the game while on Level 14 intro screen. I couldn't resume playing by clicking within the game again. I played on Firefox with no problems despite clicking out of and then resuming the game multiple times.)

Dude, this was fantastic.

Despite the incredibly simplistic visuals and stuff, this game is highly entertaining. It is simple, fun and isn't even really that long. ~20 minutes should be enough to finish it.

There's not much to say. The only thing I feel the game lacked was a bit more complexity in the enemies. If the game had a refined animations and SFX, and also became longer, I'm not kidding that this could become one of the best ones 'round.

Simple and fun. Could be a bit more difficult though. I'd like to see what it would be like if it went on much longer and the enemies were a lot more powerful.
