Reviews for "RETRO ARCADE ANIME: R-TYPE"

All I can say is, everyone knows you shoot your little buddy into the first bosses chest and mash that fire button for all it's worth.

That and this is awesome, thanks so much for likely the best hit of nostalgia I'll get for the year!

Well shit dude if this was the most awesome thing I've saw on this site in a long ass time

There are some ups and downs, but the ups are REALLY UP. Like the animation. My god, that style is really pleasing to the eye. I could stop it at just about any point and take a screenshot, or send it to a friend and say it's an anime from 2001 and they would buy it. The Giger-phallus was particularly impressive, with all the stretching flesh and moving parts! It looks absolutely incredible.

Just the idea itself is brilliant enough, but using RicePirate's very un-enthused voice against the incredible action was the winning stroke, I think. I had to think really hard to come up with even the slightest criticism, and all I came up with was "maybe his face is a little TOO animated, sometimes? Maybe?" which is a good sign. There was also that weird period in the middle where he doesn't say anything for a while. Overall, super enjoyable, definitely deserving of the front page.

Oh, well... maybe Haylizbeth's voice acting sounds a little over-enunciated, like it's being read right off of the script... If that's just what she always sounds like, then take this part for the ignorant hater comment that it is and carry on.

O.O Duuude!

As soon as I saw the banner on the front page of Wiggly Tail McStomach Face I knew I had to watch this.

Even just hearing the boss song made me shudder from the terrifying memories of seeing that 'thing' fade into existence.
R:Type is one of the hardest games I've ever played on the Sega Master System. All shooters from that era are bone-breakingly difficult and I had no idea that they were ports of arcade games that wanted your money at all costs. :P

All that aside, you've got a cool style going on here! Looks like if a 3D camera and 2D anime art got married and had a happy family together. The only thing that seems a little bit off to me is that sometimes a character seems a little bit too stiff when they start to move from a long hold, but that's about it. All of the effects and action animations were stellar.

Thanks for giving a cool tribute to a terrifying game, maybe I'll muster up the courage to play it again. :P
