Reviews for "An Improv on Life"

Hi there LSD. Well, today I've listened to everything you've ever uploaded onto NG. Some tracks are better than others, hahaha. The icing on the cake was being able to watch you enjoying yourself on youtube. That Yamaha of yours is an awesome machine!

My favourites of yours are "Spoiled-Coffee" & "Forest-Walk". Did you know that the word you most often use in "Authors Comments" is....... lazy? hahaha.

:)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Wow, did you really listen to everything? That's got to lie somewhere between 3-4 hours, right? Because of the long improvisations, mostly :p
Oh yeah, I'm having a ton of fun playing on youtube! I wish I had more time to record though :V

Those are some interesting favorites! But maybe you're more into the calm and harmonic stuff :)
And oh yeah, it's probably not the very most used word, but it's definitely up there. That's because it's true xD

Thank you for listening to my stuff, and for leaving a nice review on top of that :3

Oh man, I saw this on youtube and listened to it. Uuuurg why are you so frickin good? I wish I could just sit down and jam for 20 minutes like this >A<

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Awesome! Thank you for listening to it, and on youtube too :)
Also, thanks for the praise :p
I wish I could play guitar as well as you ;)
If I would've uploaded my improvisations from say 4-5 years ago, you could see how much I've improved. Anyone can learn to play like this; I know this for certain, since I don't actually have a good sense of pitch. The secret is to just do random things enough until you start to see some kid of patterns to it, and your fingers get used to moving like you want to. And ofc, to look confident as if you planned every move and sound ^ ^

I love the lo-fi crackling going on in this recording. No bullshit, just authentic melodic exploration. I'll watch the video next. The technology definitely gets in the way a little but gives me a nostalgic college vibe. Spending hours in practice rooms with pianos, recording to garage band on my lap top. Thanks for giving us this shadow :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you for listening and for reviewing, Quarl!
Yeah :) While the sound certainly isn't the best, the authenticity is worth something, in the very least.
I'm glad that this did something for you ^ ^
It's really fun to spend some time playing on real pianos at the university, since I only have an electrix one at home :D

You're amazing and all it's synonyms! I'm really just awestruck right now; the variety of brilliant melodic work and come on!! - 24:11?? I nearly got vicarious finger cramps just from listening. Very, very nice :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks a ton for the gleeful encouragement, backwardecho! If I remember correcly, I was actually really tired on the day I recorded this improvisation. But I don't think my hands/fingers got tired. While I play some fast stuff here and there, I think I subconsciously avoided anything which puts too much of a strain on the fingers!
When playing select difficult pieces though, my hands can tire really quickly :'D
