Reviews for "Hammurabi"

The art style is cool, but the decisions and system are not very well explained

I'm not really sure what's going on in this game. It needs a better explanation of what the sliders do, and what they don't do. I assume you need to move your advisers around to prevent any one of them from having their popularity rising too high. But is this even possible? Or is everything due to chance? Or am I completely misunderstanding something?

In summary, I really want to like this game, but I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be doing. I think you need to better explain the rules and gameplay mechanics. You could even do this in the "author comments", without changing the game.

lablablab-games responds:

You are right, this game is not as transparent with its info and mechanis as most management games, but it is not random. Pay careful attention to what the advisors are saying about each other, and if one of them seems threateningly popular, think of what you could do to make them less appreciated by the people. Shifting them around is useful but not always enough!

As for the sliders... feed everyone, plant all your grain, and conquer some land if you can. If the grain situation is dire, cede some land for a good return.

After several play throughs, I have absolutly no idea why I lose. I have population. Things seem to be going great. There is plenty of food, we are expanding, and then I lose.

Quite interesting.

Pretty great, the art is awesome and the gameplay is challenging, but in a good way. It's very well written. I don't feel like using my mind-brain too much right now, so I'll have to finish this later. The music was also good.
