Reviews for "Stratodancer (4min33sec)"

((VOTED 5))

This song was simply pimpalishis. One of the best I have heard in a while. It was just so catchy. This song could really get stuck in your head and not come out for a while. And wow a month in the making. Thats pretty extreme. And I saw the screenshot of the song. Wow pretty chaotic. And it all kept a steady beat throughout the whole song so what reason do I have to not give you a 5.

AdmiralConquistador responds:

Haha, thanks dude, very kind words. I was hoping it would stick in some people's heads, hah, and yea dude, actually I've been working on this since October 15th, I checked the file. Slowly but surely gets the job done, huh? All the chaos is orderly chaos, I assure you. Thanks for the review and the 5 man!

Very nice!

I love the melody, very original. Song takes like a minute for me to pick up but once it does it goes all uphill from there. Great job!

AdmiralConquistador responds:

Aye, it's definitely a long build, but I think it's worth it. Thanks for the review man!

catchy like the clap

Ok, so I'm thinking I should finally get around to listening to this AdmiralConquistador fellow, as I've heard such good things. So I start up this track, and I'm thinking "hmm... not bad, not bad..." Then, after a minute or so, I realize that the melody has been chewing away at the catchiness-center of my brain (if there is such a thing... as a brain... XD). And I don't mean a gentle gnawing; this thing is devouring in a way characteristic of only the most original and tastefully awesome melodies. Yes indeed, the notes are very well chosen, but I think it's the rhythms you used with those notes that really push this song into kick-ass mode. The drums are just kinda there... nothing too special, but while that would normally annoy me, they do go very well with the rest of the song, to the point where I'd even say more variation might have taken away. So overall: perfection? I think so. A well-deserved 5/5

AdmiralConquistador responds:

Haha, this is a fantastic review.

I'm glad that you've been hearing things about me... I didn't know that people were talking! I feel like I've written reviews like this before, as they are what give me the most glee when I read them; original and inventive ways of leaving high regards is brainchocolate. I agree with you on the rhythms; that's really what makes this beast come to life, and yea the drums were simplistic, at best, but were meant only to amplify the bassline, and the song really didn't need to be any more crowded than it already was. Well, again, thanks for the review/5!

Whoa

Great track man.

It has the simplicity and layeredness which makes me like stuff like Underworld so much.
I love the lead synth, it plays a pretty sad melody but the blunt phrasing gives it a great hook. The whole rhythm section is awesome, it really rolls along smoothly, very well done.

It helps that I'm very in the mood for this. It really entices me - it's built very delicately with all the syncopating melody snippets and it slowly harpoons its way into my brain where it starts revolving. Awesome.

I just read what attemptedperfection wrote and that's simply another way to describe the very same sensation.

I am going to assume that you carefully planned this track out and it's not merely luck of the draw - it's too thoroughly good for that :)

Thanks for the unexpected pleasure of this track! It helped make my night!

All 10s, a 5 and one of my relatively rare downloads!

AdmiralConquistador responds:

Wow, great review!

This song was no mere luck of the draw -
It took painstaking hours, walking away from the computer, refreshing my ears, listening again for another hour, walking away, coming back, tweaking some automation somewhere in the mix, changing one eq setting, compressing this or that, panning this or that, filtering this or that... One of my favorite things about this song is the subtle production notes: Around 2:50, when the reverse cymbal hits, is filtered to around 1700hz, and that introduces the arpeggio for the first time, and then 8 measures after that I bring back the same reverse cymbal, but unfiltered this time... it's very subtle and most people won't notice it, but I find it effective at drawing you in for the finale. I'm glad that the melodies were catchy; when I'm told that they gnaw relentlessly and harpoon theirselves into my audiences' brain, I'm a very happy guy, hah.

Thanks for the amazing review, I'm off to return the favor.

liek whoa

The whole song has a really smooth sound to it. Clarity is fawking amazing. It's rare to find a song that you can blast through your speakers and find no fuzziness. As for the melody, it didn't change too much, but you added enough other aspects to keep me interested all the way through.

I love the beat the most. It had me tapping along as I listen. It's like a quiet frenzy; muted, but still quick.

The ending wrapped up the song nicely and gave it a complete feeling.

An overall 5/5 from me. I find that most of your songs have better quality and more originality than the ones I've listened to ranked at the top. I'd have to say that you're probably my favorite artist in the whole audio portal. I really hope you get the recognition you deserve.

AdmiralConquistador responds:

What a flattering review!

Lately, I feel like I haven't been writing as-good songs as I used to, focusing more on production and mastering and stuff. I think that this song is kind of a return, at least in my mind, to my older songwriting style. So in that aspect, I'm probably the happiest I've ever been with a song of mine. However, LaymanLove has been pointing several things out to me, which I 100% agree with, and I'm going back and reworking this track and will re-release it on Newgrounds. Chances are it might even have vocals, maybe even from me! Thanks so much for your kind words, and I can't complain about the amount of times people have said I'm their favorite artist in the whole audio potal. I hope my head isn't getting too big!
