Reviews for "Ancient world: Gods and Men [v1.7a]"

Nice game, it has a lot of potential.

-------
Reading comments, I do get why people think that making money is a problem, thought I was able to buy Lucia in 11 in-game days (spending all my money buying equipment the first day and lossing some fights) and I think that was a good amount of days for a first slave (10-15 days seems ok).

My only complaint in acquiring money was that the battle is pretty slow, and by repeating it 2 or 3 times a day it felt like it took me a long time till I reach the 11th day.

Increasing the speed at which the Action Bar refills (for everyone, not just the player) so that the fight is more fast paced could help to pass each day faster and reduce the feeling of slow progression.
Also, the slow Action Bar make the battles look a little stiff, with the characters just posing there for a while.

I know that in the future, with more Agility based equipment the pace should go faster, but for the beginning if felt really slow, and Heavy Armor builds with -3 or so Agility would only make it slower.

Equipment may not necessarily improve/reduce Agility much higher when buying better gear. It could vary more more in Armor (Protection) and have 1 extra point in Agility over the previous Light Armor and -1 (-2 for others based on Armor amount) extra point in Agility over the previous Heavy Armor.

Plus, if you are going to add establishments to buy and upgrade, like a vineyard, a bath house, a brothel for your slaves instead of sending them to the streets, etc.; then the amount of money that we get at the start of the game shouldn't be a problem, as long as one work his ass, or his slave's ass.

(I know, you must still be balancing things, but I have to write this)
For some reason (really bad luck?) from time to time my character tends to fail every single hit he throws in a battle, even if I only use Normal Strikes. Thankfully, it only happens twice so far.

Though Normal Strikes don't seem to fail that often, it's still a bothersome when your most secure attack fails 2-3 times a row. I lost a lot of fights like that.
It'd be way better if the fights are more “thinking what to do next” and less “gamble it”. Most of my battles are just [Normal Strike, Normal Strike, Normal Strike, Rest, Normal Strike, Normal Strike] which kills the fun of it.

Blocking, Strong Strike and Huge Strike usually endanger you more than the help they provide, which at least for Blocking is the opposite of what I was expecting.

Blocking should be performed in the same turn you select the option.
If not that, at least the first stance of Huge Strike should be different from the Strong Strike stance, that way we can get a grasp of what our adversary is about to do and prepare a block for that Huge Strike.

Right now, blocking Strong Strikes is useless, you don't know it's coming until it's already too late to prepare yourself for it. And if it was actually a Huge Strike but you didn't prepare the block 'cuz you thought it was the Strong one, you're fucked... if it lands of course, 'cuz both of them hardly land, which render the block option useless again.

The only way to block a Huge Strike once the Huge Strike stance shows up, is to be fast enough so that you perform the blocking stance before they throw their strike, it doesn’t work that frequently.

For Heavy Armor users, they'll never block a Huge Strike in time unless they prepare a block every Strong stance that shows up (hope for it being the Huge one, not the Strong one).

Not so necessary.
Resting could take only 1 turn (with the same amount of recovery from 1 turn, not both turns), and if we need to rest again, we only need to select Rest again.
If we recover enough energy with 1 turn for a decisive strike or we need to block, those 2 turns being inactive could endanger us again instead of helping us.
Thought if this was intentional, you rest knowing it's a 2 turns action, so bear the consequences. Then it's pretty much ok.
I'd then add a Wait option. e.g. Wait recovers 10 Energy in 1 turn, while Rest recover 15 Energy and 5 Health per turn through 2 turns.
You need Energy but not sure if you should use Rest? use Wait. Confident enough to use Rest, go for it.

About interface.
Most of the interface it is good or really nice, I like way things are displayed in both markets and the inventory. Text in general is fine both in font and size.

The text box for the slave interaction is a little big, it gets in the way of the slave's status box and your own status box.

-------
Now, sexy side of the story.

Models are OK, they work enough, for now at least. Mostly I hope it'll improve in hair options for females, not a fan of Lucia's hairstyle, her face is nice.

Though check Lucia's mouth in Sitting>Stroke>Cum>Mouth, that was scary xD
The standing position should be against one of the columns of your residence, that way the Dominus arm won't clip through the wall when slapping his slave.

In the text intro for sex with your slaves, the line "...as long as the Dominus did the penetration..." should actually be "...as long as the Dominus took an active role..." which means he is the Dom and his slave is the Sub (not to mistake for Sadist and Masochist).
Basically, it was considered as a lack of virility/virtue for a man to obey a person of lower status, especially when it was a sexually related order.
And so far, any of the sexual interaction had 'proper' penetration, thus it's a weird wording xD

-------
Male on Male seems to be the same as female, don’t really care. The income from his fights is similar to my winnings. I hope there is other works in the future, like farming in one of your establishment, with the Cons of being paid less than fighting, but the Pros of not being hurt and unable to work for a couple of days.

-------
I'd really like if we can hire a group of kidnappers (reduce morality... and maybe a slightly chance of being exposed, reducing reputation?) to catch a person that we can later create ourselves in a similar way we do with our character. Changing face-type (between the face of all the slaves), hairstyle and color, skin tone, eye color. Pay a lot extra and they won’t touch her/him.
Changing your slave's name too (only with high affinity? so they accept their new name).

-------
I really like that you didn't force us to make our slaves work as prostitutes, but give us the choice to do if we want to increase our income.
I'm a selfish guy, I don't like to share my girl, I don't know why someone would like to, I don't care. But the option is there for those who'll want to.

-------
Again, it look really good and the concept has lot of potential.
Good luck man!

Eldinex responds:

Hi! Yes, money gained with fighting will be increased in next update.

Experience gain and first tier of talent points will be introduced so you'll be able to increase stats and bonuses which should make combat a bit faster and hits more accurate.

Yes the game needs balancing that's why I like this feed backs :)
For misses It was really bad luck. Every time you attack, roll check is made if you pass the hit chance.

I'm aware that blocking is not working perfectly and is not being used much. So in future development, it will either become instant action with turn cooldown, or a passive skill with % to block.

I like the combat wait suggestion.
And position change to column.
will change the text penetration to active role.

Farming/mining professions are planned. In which the second one is a one way ticket for a passive low income. (probably as one of the punishment options for recaptured escaped slaves)

It's a nice idea for kidnappers. Sometime later there will probably be an option to modify characters, also renaming, called by a costum name.

Models facials will be worked on, as option to buy defeated fighters are strongly considered.

I try and will try to give players as much choices as possible.

Thanks for this nice detailed feedback! It helps me create better content, Cheers!

The sheer amount of placeholder and missing content makes this 1.0 version feel more like a 0.7. The backbone of a good game is there: interesting combat system and management aspects that could very easily be added to. (The art, however, sits squarely in the "better than I could do" category of damning with faint praise.)

Flesh out the shops, get the base game content listed on the patreon page into the game, and this will be in a very good spot.

Eldinex responds:

Thank you for your feedback and for seeing this game beyond black and white at this stage, it really helps me create better future content.

Good game, can't wait for more content

good, but crusor does not display.
kind of hard to play being unable to see what you are doing

When i saw the 3d sprite i thought *hugh!!! that sithy fake 3d games...*
Turns out hat this one have real 3d models.... good enough!!!!

Eldinex responds:

Hi, hopefully new sprite does not resemble "those" games, thanks for pointing that out :)
