It's not that great. You keep telling people who don't understand to play with sound without actually answering their questions. I played once without sound and replayed it with sound. The only difference is you can hear a noise when the room is about to get taken over by tentacles, and your character lets out what I think is a sigh when they touch one and "die." You said in your response to someone that the player doesn't actually die and imply that playing with sound would explain it, but there's no way to learn anything with sound. I played it both ways and have the same knowledge. You wake up like a normal person but rooms you're in get taken over by tentacles after a few seconds, you respawn if you touch them, and you can collect your items at your death place. You keep gathering, "dying," and recollecting until you have every item and have progressed to the room with the pentagram-esque drawing. You then fill the circles with the items that match the elemental symbols of your clue paper and (SPOILERS!) you become a giant then fade to white. It makes no sense on any level how you got into the situation or how what you did solved it. Sound does nothing to explain it, and it looks like the developer isn't going to be clearing anything up either. Don't waste your time with this one if you're expecting a story
