Reviews for "MAKE IT as an Artist"

cool game, a little depressing, but i like to play.

deathink responds:

Thanks man.

This game hits you with reality even if you try to deny it. You try to work so that you can afford the things in your life. You try to draw either to be famous or because you love doing it and you try all those things to be balanced with out losing yourself in that mess...

I felt like reality was hitting me in the face with an iron bat. From a game to cause such an experience I tip you my hat sir.

This is really powerful stuff. The struggle of an artist is just that a struggle. There are comments about how the bars are depleting too fast, and how it is rather repetitive in the actions of the player, that is life, for everyone.

You work some menial job, to pay for food and to fund your dreams, but it is all just so hard to balance, failure is almost assured, but not definite.

Bravo would play again 10/10

Tedious and unrewarding.

deathink responds:

I know right? Screw this art stuff!

This game really makes you feel some of the struggles that come with trying to be an artist. I really enjoyed the aspect of making the player feel something. I don't know the struggles of being an artist, but I felt like this game gave me an idea of what it's like.

I really enjoyed the music, but it does get repetitive. The palm trees and sunset were nice visuals. I also liked the pixel art style.

I found this game to be needlessly difficult, however. Everything drains too quickly and I found it ridiculous that everything drains even when you're not doing anything. It makes no sense to lose money when you're not doing anything. I can understand the other three things draining when you're not doing anything, but money? No, definitely a flawed mechanic.

deathink responds:

Hey man, thanks for the review.
There has been a bunch of comments saying things like "it's makes no sense to lose money when you're doing nothing", this is false.
Everyday you live (at least as an adult) you are incurring debt because of things like rent, electric, food, taxes and the list goes on and on.
If life was truly a video game, it would be optimum to procure as much money in the least amount of time, because the more time you live the less money you will retain.
This is a super stressful concept that rattles subconsciously in the back of a lot of peoples minds, because instead of focusing on making the most money you can, you being focusing on losing the least money you can which is much more pessimistic in contrast.
