I also lost lots of work once. This is what I learned: enable auto-save, save all the time and even as a new file name (file01, file02, etc.), at the end of the day, copy the latest file to ANOTHER drive. Repeat

BACKUP EVERYTIME BRO! Use avtosave and make some backup files.
very well made, I once lost an ENTIRE chapter of my master's thesis... that was at least 10 weeks of work.
