Reviews for "Tattle & Tale"

Ugh I move so slow. Its faster to spin all the time then to walk.
What way do I go? Confused.
"DID YOU KNOW?. DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW?" Yes I know. I just had to pass you again Ugh.

I love the art style.
The music is so pretty (Stops playing just to listen to music ^o^)
I love my little ghost girl friend and how she turns into the things you need.
Love this game!!!!

Looks like this was mentioned in another comment already but ... I was immediately struck by how similar this is to Spyro (and there is nothing wrong with that). Very similar game focus with the portals and such. It brought back a huge wave of nostalgia ... really loved those games. Seem rather well thought out if a bit rough in places, but nothing totally game breaking for me. Thank you for your contribution!

There's untapped potential in this game; on the one hand, I can tell you put a lot of time and effort designing this game, full of details, like the main character becoming a ghost when he dies, or the character animations. I also like the variety side quests, overall character design, music and gameplay.

On the other hand, some aspects need improving. For example, whenever I run into a bottomless pit, at first glance, they look like regular "spaces", in a way, so I can't tell whether or not it's actually a bottomless pit, it'd be useful if you added, for example, a sign with a skull and crossed bones, indicating danger, or having a NPC warn you about the pits, so there's no room for error. I also think it's a little unforgiving having bottomless pits and water kill you off inmediately, it'd be more fair if they took away a heart, for example. Enemies pose no real threat.

On a technical note, the "frosty falls" world suffers from noticeable lag; the sidequest on the Canyon world that doesn't work properly, whenever I protect the crop from falling rocks, I'm told by the NPC that I failed and that I have to start over, instead of giving me a soul.

While the review might sound a little negative, I actually really enjoyed the game and it's a good concept and premise, but there's room for improvement,

SinclairStrange responds:

It was made during a month (actually a bit less than a month) for a gamejam so aye it's a little rough around the edges. There is some problems with the flash version of the game, some quests not working all the time due to lag issues, I've tried my best to fix as much of this as I can but it's a bit challenging when it wasn't never designed for flash to begin with. (So I high suggest downloading the offline standalone PC version for itch.io)

If I ever do planning on making a "spiritual sequel" I'd design more in line with what Flash can handle, this was more just an experiment. I'd prolly tweek quite of lot of things too, having such a short development can cloud some judgement and designs.

Glad you liked it overall though :)

I really like this game!! I can see where people are complaining about repetitive gameplay, but if you look past that this is an enjoyable platform game.

SinclairStrange responds:

I quite like repetitive gameplay hehe. I guess collectathons sadly can be repetitive but some people enjoy that tedium. Donkey Kong 64 anyone? Glad ye enjoyed!

I like this :V
buuuuttt it's gettin' more boring over time :C

SinclairStrange responds:

That's the sad nature of collectathons I'm afraid >.<
