Reviews for "Rearmed Trials"

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT YESSS... DAMN MAN, WE HAVE SCORES AS WELL, HEH, COMPETITION, YA KNOW WHAT i MEAN? gg bruhh for real, might be difficult for others (as I've already read the comments) but i luv this, cheers mate...

D-SuN responds:

I'd like to do some kind of high score leaderboard give away real soon :)
Thanks for playing!
BTW I'm patching the game soon. More balance, better level.

Congratulations on publishing a Steam title, but I don't think it is necessary to humiliate us, the people of Newgrounds, by publishing such a poor "demo" which is just Achilles skinned with AwW graphics. You have published stunning, brilliant games here in the past and we know that this game doesn't show your true skills. And if you decide to concentrate on the Steam clientele instead of here, we will congratulate you for moving on to a larger market. However, that doesn't mean you can insult or humiliate us. If you look at Defender's Quest, you will know that this piece of crap is not a Newgrounds-worthy demo.

Now let me tell you why this game is crap. The game is very punishing and provide no margin of error; one button pressed wrongly and about 1/3 of my HP will be drained, and there is no health restorers available. However, the moves themselves are inconsistent in timing and reach (reach is also affected by weapon), so there's always a chance that the move doesn't knock back that enemy who is expected to be knocked back. And the game punishes this heavily.

Another thing is that using the S key is very risky. Especially for the S move, it takes a lot of time to prepare and you cannot get out from the sequence. You can't even change the direction you face. However, it is very difficult to defeat elites with A and D alone, so you are forced to gamble.

D-SuN responds:

Edit: I've just updated the arena. There are more toys in the arena to play with. I also added health drops to enemies, adjusted difficulty and slightly improved the Forward+S. Would really appreciate further feed back :)

Thanks for the feedback. The intent is certainly not to humiliate anyone.
I think your right about the difficulty being too too hard, other users have also commented with similar concerns.

I don't think this is an issue in the Steam version, because there are many levels to cross, allowing players the chance to improve their skill without harsh consequences.

I'll certainly be doing SOMETHING to this demo to address this issue. Please stay tuned :)

Yay I'm in top 20! But NOT for long probably! XD

This is really fun and good practice

Ah yes! I was wondering why the game felt familiar! You made the Armed with Wings series!
So many memories from my highschool days :)

The art style and animation feel very nostalgic back when I played your games.
I didn't give it any stars because I feel it wouldn't be fair, seeing that it is just a demo.

What I will say though, having played your previous series, is that it does need a jump button. My initial reaction when I get swarmed with enemies is to press the "up" arrow and when I didn't jump it just felt very unsatifying. It broke me out of the experience of being a badass.

Maybe add some special moves aside from the power attack. It would be cool to have some projectile moves and maybe some collectibles where you can unlock other characters that have their own attack patterns.

Best of luck dude!

Oh and also, I remember playing a "Young Justice" game with the exact mechanics of Armed with Wings from Cartoon Network, but it just had DC characters skinned over it.

Did they steal if from you or did they pay you to let them use it? It would be pretty fucked up if they just stole it :/

D-SuN responds:

Thank you for the review! I'm so glad you were able to recognize the series by name - it's been 5 years since the last AwW game on NG!

Thanks for the feedback, I've updated the game today, although the combat mechanics or attacks havent been changed, I think the game is much more fun now :)

That Young Justice game was in fact produced by me. I was contracted by Cartoon Network. Totally felt like a sell out. Those were fun days.

Why are you listed as the only one here with a high score? Anyway, this was a really cool game, but it had one flaw. You couldn't jump! You would have had more mobility that way! The animation was still great. It's great how you listed your beta testers.

The sounds all sync up well. I assume the game just goes on forever. Then again, I didn't get that far. Xbox? You can actually play this game with Xbox?!

D-SuN responds:

You can play this with an xbox controller connected to your PC. I have a usb xbox one gamepad, its much more fun than keyboard.

To be clear, this game is not on the Xbox.... yet.. :)
