ReJect is great. The animations are smooth, the music is good, the enemies and weapons are easily told apart, and it's difficult.
There are a few problems however.
- It can be difficult for the wrong reasons.
For one thing, the difficulty curve is big. The first wave is easy enough, and the second is just the right increase in difficulty, but then the third wave comes along and it gets considerably harder. It seems easy to me now, but that's because I had to play it over and over again until I was very good at the game. The fourth wave is a HUGE increase in difficulty even over the third wave. There are legions of enemies being thrown at this poor guy we play as, and at this point in time, I still haven't beaten it.
Another problem is it's very easy to get sandwiched against the wall with nowhere to go, and since there are collisions with enemies and no way to sprint, it's very difficult to avoid and pretty much spells game over.
- There doesn't seem to be any story.
The whole game seems to be "oh hey, I created life! Now DIE!"
