Reviews for "The Calling (feat. Laura Brehm)"

Whoa! I love how atmospheric it is, while still having a defined melody. Get ready for Geometry Dashers...

Hmm... I have to be honest. I love this one, but I would have liked it so much more if it had taken a darker turn like in the preview. It goes from calm into a Hans Zimmer type horn blaring into some quick atmospheric arpeggios. I would have loved if it went into a sort of darker orchestral piece from there, or at least something along those guidelines.

That aside, this track is great! I love all of the different elements of the song that make a simple song seem so complex, while still being simple. (Making this was probably by no means simple). There's a lot of things in this that you don't hear often in progressive house. I also like how it switches from more of a minor key into a major one. The clashing notes at the beginning are a bit... interesting. It makes the chord progression more unique, while not taking away form the song. I have to admit, 1:10 gave me goosebumps. I just loved it. All of your tracks carry so much more emotion than mine do. I'm starting to get there, but every time I listen to one of your tracks, my songs are nothing :P

Overall, I love the atmospheric feel of it. I also love how you layered so many things together to make this so great. I would have liked to see it take a different turn like it did in the preview, but I can't complain. I expected a great song, and you delivered!

First off, love those soft chords and the kick pattern as an intro. The kicks have a tribal feel to them, sounds like a rhythm I learned to play on my drums a while back.

Laura's voice fits perfectly with the track. I like the echo/reverb effect that goes with her voice, it makes the words she's saying linger for a while, giving them more meaning. The fade in with the chords is nice too.

That xylophone sound has a really ambient feel to it. Combined with the vocals and their echo, it creates a very calm atmosphere. The voices that come in after a while give the vocals a bit of a boost.

The drop is very glitch-hoppy. The voice kind of sound used sounds really cool, and you've got some really nice chord sounds going on in the background. An unexpected, yet still pleasant, change from the intro.

The bit of a cool down from the drop, again with some soft vocals and the faded-out chords, sounds very similar to the start of the song. As does the build up to the second drop and the drop itself. That is the only gripe I have with the song. Perhaps you could change a bit more in the second half of the song. That being said, it still sounds as good as it did the first time!

The outro is very relaxing too, again using the echoey xylophone sound.

Great song overall. Everything fits together very well, despite the unexpected change from soft to glitch-hop. The only thing that is slightly, and I mean very slightly, dissapointing is the similarity between the first and second drop.

Keep up the awesome work dude!

Nothing to say.
Just awesome.
