Reviews for "Dungeon Screener"

Wow. That's simply all I can say. This must've had a LOT of time put into it. I am incredibly addicted!
The music is awesome and goes very well with the game itself. The tutorial is a little hard on the eyes, I think this needs simpling a little. Nonetheless, though this isn't original, it's got it's own unique twist and I love it dearly.

Foumart responds:

Thank you! Dungeon Screener took year and a half to develop, polish, bug-clean, play-test and balance!
There may be more than a thousand hours of my life put in, but I'm far from regretting it - on the contrary - If I have to I will put a thousand hours more to extend this battle engine into a full-featured RPG !

A pretty great game.

While you can't say much about the story, the gameplay style is unique. I haven't seen a game quite like this before, and I love it. It's hard for me to express this game through words.

The reason I bumped it down to 4 stars was? Even on normal mode, it's just. So. Hard.

I ended up going through a total party kill on the second level. Before that, on the same level, my Cleric died twice - as if they were singled out - even though my knight was supposed to be guarding. I could just not be understanding how guarding works, but it doesn't make sense to me that he would just stand there when the Cleric was attacked and brutally slain twice. Guarding sounds like it would involve more...Well, guarding.

Foumart responds:

Thank you for the feedback.
Knight protects the party from physical melee attacks, but ranged units and spell-casters strike regardless his guard. Magic harms the entire party anyways - in most cases the priority is to knock out spell-casters first.
The game constantly introduces new enemies throughout the levels and some are quite dangerous when you first meet them, so be careful :)

This is an amazing game, this must be a classic and hopefully will mark a place in newgrounds

I just can't express the joy i had playing this game. It is a genre that is really little-explored by browser games, making it all the more refreshing. The soundtrack blends perfectly with the game, the mechanics are fun and intuitive and the flavor text is flavorful. The only issues i had are the graphics and the fact that the save system is broken. Overall, good job!

Foumart responds:

Thanks for the review!
In fact the graphics (and UI) are the most neglected aspect of the game - most of the sprites were made literally in few minutes during a game jam without much thought put in, I have a short development time-lapse from the very beginning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUeNSsbkmO8
The save system is only working once for a level - it saves a state when you descend down to the next stage, so you will be able to load from the beginning of every stage you have reached.

Great game, firstly i was thinking its a little bit to chaotic and slow, but when i played it second time... gosh im in love. The last boss seems a little bit hard (crazyly hard), there is some kind of trick to beat him? I always die in the first or second turn (with lvl 10 warrior and 9 evryone else), he just one shot my cleric, mage and archer ;_;.

Foumart responds:

You need to enter well prepared with at least 4 cure scrolls, full protection from magic (red around hearts) and three shields available for your knight. The later is a little bit tricky especially if you have fought some tough enemies before attacking the boss. It may be good to leave an easy party to be able to restore shields on it.
The game does not end when you destroy the boss - you are able to play around after that and earn some more experience if you still have ammo left. Good luck!
