Reviews for "Vortex Point 7"

This is pretty great, and I can see why Dr. Prescott is considered infamous: He is an insufferable prick! He is condescending, arrogant, non-empathetic, and is a jerk to everyone he meets. He definitely got what was coming to him at the end of this game! Norman was also a bit of jerk as well but unlike Dr. Prescott, he at least has an excuse for being hostile to Kevin.

I also have to say that a couple of things that I feel need to be addressed. First, how did Kevin get out of Dr. Waddington's house with no boat? The outside area between the house and the diner/gift shop is nothing but stagnant swamp water with an extremely huge alligator swimming in that particular area, and I sure as Hell can't imagine Kevin getting to shore via swimming.

Second, why don't we actually see Waddington Swamp's monster at the end and learn what kind of animal it was before the experiments transformed it into a monster? Since the aforementioned alligator is itself huge enough to be in a monster movie based on crocodilians (think Alligator, the Lake Placid film series, Primeval etc.) that must mean that the swamp monster must be gargantuan in size. Seeing that would've been a treat to see but instead all I got was a bunch of bubbles coming from underwater and some monster noises.

The third thing that needs to be addressed would be the freezer puzzle. I've encountered puzzles like this in your previous games, but none that were as frustrating as this one. Honestly, most of the blocks being different sizes and shapes just led to a somewhat frustrating experience where I had to take apart all the blocks and rearrange them a few times over.

Asides from that, I feel that this game is great, the atmosphere is nice, and the music of the swamp is overall creepy, which is good. I also find that the Cthulhu statue in the gift shop is a nice reference to H.P. Lovecraft, author to one of the greatest horror/sci-fi series of all time, the Cthulhu Mythos. You've done a swell job making this despite its flaws and I hope to see another Vortex Point sometime in the future. Awesome work dude!

nice game
