Reviews for "Re:Maid UPDATED"

can author confirm there's a Aina e-scene
That'll guarantee my patreon

marblesyrup responds:

There's none, sorry. There's a dream sequence with her nude though, but it's not an actual CG, it's just her sprite, nude. We might add a patreon-exclusive one if there's enough demand among our backers, though, but no promises.

HANA's ending: Ignore the first and second dates. I tried soooooo many times to perfect the first 2 dates, only to fail time and time again. Later I found out that I could turn Hana down, go straight to the Hanami and the Hike, and it will work out.
1st Question: you can pick Love, Friends, Nature (and probably some others)
2nd Question is strictly Superhuman powers

To Author: Apologies for giving away Hana's ending, but seriously, who would have guessed that you must ignore the first 2 dates (or at least the 2nd date)? That's like counter-intuitive; I get punished for putting in more effort. My guess is that we MUST avoid the conflict between Hana and Erika at all cost (they must never meet in town), which means to never go on the 2nd date with Hana. That ain't cool, man.

Also I can't overwrite saved files. Autosaves sometimes mess up too.

Being subjective here, but Aina wasn't particularly attractive or interesting.

Nonetheless, overall great effort with the game and different outcomes. Art is fantastic. Good choice of music. Lots of knowledge on Japanese culture. 4/5

marblesyrup responds:

Hi, your intuition is all wrong. You can do the dinner and it's perfectly fine if Hana and Erika meet in Nakano. We should maybe adjust the "points" awarded for these things, though... everything could probably me more intuitive, as you say. Thank you for the review!

I have put more than 12 hours into this game already, and have read 57.4% of the dialogue that is within the game, while it is an amazing game, I feel as though the decisions you make in certain areas have too little impact while others have too much impact.

In the Hana ending for instance as long as you can get to the questionnaire then you are fine, just chose nature for the second choice and the second choice doesn't even matter. I tested this after ignoring Hana the whole game and not even being the one who invited her to go on the hike. This means that at least on the Hana path getting assistance from her the first day only allows you to get an extra choice later down the line, which is another choice that has no impact on the rest of the game and doesn't even offer any unique dialogue for each chosen, just one overarching message for getting it wrong, as well as a funny little insult with the commentary on.

I do however enjoy the diversity of the Erika path in which you are able to take her alone on the hike if you blow off Hana when she wants to go out after school. I believe that this was a missed opportunity though where you could have introduce a slightly different Erika ending that ends with you not being friends with Hana, or maybe ends with a three-way between the Nishi, Erika, and Kenji.

Out of the two endings I still have not reached I know one of them is the gay one with Kenji, as it is stated in the commentary, and one with the fourth girl, the made on the thumbnail,

For the Kenji ending, I followed the advice given in the commentary, but to no avail. I ignore the girls in one playthrough and end up at the questionnaire with Hana, meaning Hana ending was available when I completely blew her off. I tried to ditch Hana when she wanted to go to town, then gossiped with Erika on the way home, ignored all temptations from the girls like the shower scene and the panties even refused to masturbate during and after the dream, sit with Kenji at the Hanami, then go hiking with him, but he just shoves Aina in my face and leaves. I also tried getting the girls to go on the hiking trip still avoiding all temptations and then text him at the end, and still no Kenji ending. I thoroughly believe that this ending is much too hard to achieve in comparison to the first four.

For the girl I haven't even met yet, I have tried all of the variations of choices when you go on the final date with Erika if you don't go hiking, I have tried to do the final date after taking the picture, but it just leads to the Heart Broke ending, I believe the person I am trying to somehow romance is Vicky, but I haven't even seen a sprite of her when I do talk to her, which seems strange to say the least.

That's it for the relationships and endings that I have experienced, so, onto the actual choices, dialogue and commentary.

I overall enjoyed the story for all of the different paths that are available, however I feel as though in certain situations there are too many options to chose from, while in others there are too few or areas where I feel as though there should be choices there are none.

Take the first time you encounter Erika for instance, you could give the option to find the closest thing that resembles a weapon and confront the "intruder" or to sneak up on them and tackle them to restrain them while you call the police. These options would create more tension between Nishi and Erika that can't just easily be brushed off by him going to bed. Also, when you tackle her you would realize that it was a girl and you would be confused until she explained causing you to be even more embarrassed by what you did than just yelling at her. Another choice you could have given was to stay quiet in your room and hope for them to leave quietly/hope for them to not notice you. Or to hide in your room and call the cops without ever confronting her, again creating additional tension.

Also, at the Hanami I believe it forces you too much to talk to Hana unless you had previously ditched her or you decide to talk to Kenji instead, but there is no choice to go after Erika when she leaves if you brought her, or to excuse yourself from Hana if you really don't want to talk to her. This would lead to more of a connection with Erika if you could go after her and more tension between Nishi and Erika if he just left her again.

The lack of content for Aina is just disappointing to me, regardless of being able to end up with her there should be some content with her, such as just a simple conversation or maybe she helps you out with one of the other girls, or maybe even with Kenji on that route. You could give the start of a romance only for Nishi to find out that she is a lesbian or something and has no interest in him. Even as a distraction from the other routes would be better than her current role of just accompanying the doomed for loneliness player.

For the lost in the woods route you could have made it so that the player actually makes choices as to which direction they want to go as opposed of either making the decision yourself or asking the girls, this would allow for the player to maybe meet up with the group further up if they can chose the right path, be forced to camp outside for the night, or even make it down from the mountain and make it back safely without having to spend the night.

Also, I don't remember where, but I believe I saw some spelling errors that where not explained away by the commentary, also the picture at the end of the Heart Broke ending is not the picture that I took, maybe a way to keep track of which picture you took, leg up or down, would be nice to ensure consistency within the game.

All in all I believe it is a great game, but there were definitely some missed opportunities and some room for improvement as well as a modification of the difficulty and the weight each choice has on the overall impact of the game. Each of the aforementioned things are just small things that could change the game for the better or worse would be for both you and the other players to decide, not me personally. I realize that adding all of this would take much more time and would have delayed the game much more than it already was, but at least these are some ideas for the Re:Maid Plus version.

marblesyrup responds:

Thanks for the feedback! Lots of good stuff that we wish we'd been told during the lengthy beta period... though it was only accessible to backers during that time, of course. If you choose to become a $5+ backer, let us know (via NG pm) and we'll refund you for your first month after your payment's gone through. It'd be great to have sb like you in the beta playtesting team for our upcoming titles.

played this twice and still got Forever Alone. i want to be with Hana so what am i doing wrong ?

Okay,
I found the Hana, Erika, Rape, and Alone endings. Could I perhaps get the name of the other 3 available so I have an idea of where I need to go? I assume premium requires PC download? Overall I like it.

marblesyrup responds:

PC/Mac/Linux/Chromebook all supported
